Just because he has a better car doesn't mean it's a faster car...
A 2000 has 195 hp and will go 0-60 in 7.0. If the 99 is the same, you've got a spry piece of cow dung next to you.
Hope you win...

Im sure I'll get a few "love letters" for this but I think the hondas got you beat your auto backed LB9 is only pushing out 190hp,(correct my if Im wrong but) hes got a weight advantage and a 5-speed.

I have taken one of those in my 190 hp auto backed car. But that was with the mods listed. I think if you know how to drive you should be able to take him.
I think you'll spank him. Ludes are actually pretty heavy for an import (around 3400 pounds) and the H22a motor should be pushing around 200hp@7000 / 156lb-ft@5250. Unless he's got a F/I setup he should be in the 15's, maybe 14's downhill with the wind pushing him.

it depends... i have seen G92 305's run 14.5 stock.... i have a 87 Z and i have raced faster cars and beat them... i also have an auto.... my only recomendation is that put it in drive when u race him... ull get better shifts... just remember u only have 3 speeds... not four...ive takin 2 2001 Eclipse GT's... both 5/6 speed what ever they are.... and ah yes... a RSX-S 6 speed.... umm i think that ur IROC would run anywhere from a 15.8-15.2... just my guess...

1987 305 TPI w/auto run mid 15s stock. With a few mods you can drop them into the low 15s. Get rid of that peanut cam and you will see 14s.
well he said his car could run low 15's but he hasn't actually gone to the track or anything. my only mod is K&N air filters (if that's even considered a mod). i drove his car before and it feels faster than mine but maybe cuz mine is in need of a tune up. anyway after hearing from you guys i think it might be a close race so i'm gonna do a tune-up and race him. also, i don't think putting it in drive would help cuz even in overdrive if you stomp on it all the way doesn't it automatically disengage overdrive?

Trust me shift manually. When the car shifts on its own it doesn't take full advantage of 2nd gear. Get the tuneup and make sure to take out anything in your car that could add more weight to the car. Get him on the launch and you can take him.

my friend has a 95 prelude VTEC. it sucks off the line, but it really wakes up around 5 grand. i know its faster than my LG4, and my guess is its a little faster than an auto LB9 car. by the way, his car weighs 2900 lbs, not 3400 lbs.

I have seen a manual prelude in action and wasn't too impressive.
My friend with a 1990 300zx auto ran one and lost by only one car while having 360 extra pounds in his car (me and a friend) and a bad transmission that didn't go into 4th gear properly.
A 300zx should also run mid 15s like our LB9s. Give your car a tune-up so u have a chance. I think it could go both ways.
Run him and tell us the outcome. Good luck.

i have to put my .02 in here...
ludes are one of the nicest "looking" cars...with that said(i know that has nothing to do with this)
the ludes are quite quick stock, put headers, intake and cat back with mid pipe they are in the 14's no prob ..i have a customer with a 99 and thats what he did..(14.7) unless you have more then just k&ns...you will lose...by at least a car...maybe more...the 5spd gives him another advantage and once he hits the vtec(i-vtec) with just even an intake hell pull away like you are standing still!! but try him...you never know, he could miss a gear and make you win...
iroc2nv
ps...either way post the results

14.7 is pretty impressive for a prelude. a couple weeks ago at the track i saw a guy running a newer prelude, probably 99 or newer but not sure. he had all the bolt ons (intake/headers/exhaust) and he was only a mid to high 15. Not sure what engine he had, but he wasnt all that impressive.
