Darn sleeper Talons!

ouch this one stings. totally stock looking stock sounding (at idle anyways) Eagle Talon Tsi. I figure, hey its gota be good for mid 13's what with that stock turbo right? so what the hell. he lets me get the jump from the light. heh. but thats about it.

VROOOOMMMMMMM PSHHHH!!!

he passes me like im standing still.
No, I dont let off, but he has time to hit the brakes, slow down to my speed, then speed off AGAIN while im full on the throttle, Blower spinning, 6000 rpm shifting, 6 PSI of boost, my mid 12 second run.

I watch him pull into "Horsepower sales" turns out hes the manager there, go figure. I check out his "stock talon" lol.

2 intercoolers, a huge front mount and a side mount.
a huge looking "T3/T4 Hybrid turbo" pushing 28 PSI of boost into some 4 cylinder looking thing.
has the cool little hi/low boost control thing on his steering wheel, the laptop for adjusting "spark per cylinder" (MSD DIS-4 or somthing)
and to top it off a nice 100 shot of nitrous for "spooling up the turbo"
yeah I was gawking. what could I do? that thing was FAST! says he launched at "low boost" to give me the lead then hit his little button (jealosy sets in about here) and nails "high boost" to pass me and comes back for more. Sheeesh. he gave me a good deal on a blower pulley though now i get to turn up the boost too.

28 pounds of boost? What his engine made of Titanium??? With 28 pounds of boost he might be able to go to the grocery store and back between rebuilds.

Your knowledge of Talons amazes me. Of course since YOUR engine can't hold up to it that means a 4G63 with forged internals can't either!!!

Actually, thats not that uncommon. Most guys with built DSMs push about 25, and they come from the factory with about 15. They're pretty sturdy, but make sure you replace that timing belt every 60K or else....

you can run that kind of boost in a small block chevy if you know what your doing. gotta build it tough, and have copper head gaskets with an o-ringed block, the right cam, pistons, and computer controlled spark timing....but oh yes, it has been done.

ya thats about right for those cars.....my best friend had an 87 conquest TSI, he put a turbonetics(i think) 16G turbo on it with a boost controller, the thing had a weird cam in it etc. as soon as the motor was broken in we cranked the boost up to like 30psi man that was cool for about 5 min, then the back of the block broke off (turns out that there is some girdle thing you need for those motors that prevents that, but he didnt know about it) it was cool anyway hehe

Ok I guess you know my car better than I do. You got me on this one, I do have an after market boost gauge I guess it's good for the extra 2lbs of boost. I bought the car from a doctor that did nothing to the car it has 98,000 miles, the car had normal maint done a new timing belt and the front drive axles have been replaced. DSM were mass produced just like our cars. Thus reason one third gen dyno's at 200 hp and another one dynos at 225 hp factory stock. Every car has different corks to it. 2 lb of boost drift on a 98,000 mile car is nothing. The world is full of these kinda people, I only though I got to meet them working the ambulance. :lala: If you have anything Intelligent to say post back if not shut the help up!

dude settle down, no need to get defensive or anything, im just stating the facts. obviously you are the one that is not intelligent around here. point in case, how can your car gain 2 pounds of boost by adding a gauge??? i swear you people need to think b4 you say something, the only way your car would gain boost is if you added a boost controller not just the gauge, so dude if you want to talk cars, learn about them first, ive been working on camaros and dsms the past 5 years and done pretty much everything to these cars so dont try and pull one over on me :lala: :lala: :lala:
got anything else to say, intelligent stuff preferred

i just recently had an accident with a talon, i really miss my baby. anyway all that was done to it was a hacked aircan, and a 16g turbo. that and a few other things like a fartcan exhaust, anyhow, i was running on good nights around 21-22 lbs of boost, and my engine kept up. man if i get another car its gonna be a talon.

actually i think the stock PSI is around 7-9 pounds.could be wrong, but i think i remember reading that.it is by NO MEANS 13 pounds stock.thats about what im running right now with an MBC.i think i hit like 11-12 when i did the stock boost controller hack.im not totally sure, cause i didnt have my aftermarket boost gauge in then.so i would double check your boost gauge hookup.either that or youre getting serious boost creep/spike.watch out for that.who knows though, maybe you have a ringer.

im pretty sure the 1g dsms did run 9psi stock, and 2g dsms run 11psi stock, but you are right, he could definetly have some vacuum leaks and some boost creap

It is not often you see an unmolested stock appearing import that is extremely fast.

I agree. There are import guys that know a lot about engines, but also have the body mods too, but their body mods are typically more on the functional side. These kind of guys I rarely see because thier cars are not driven on a regualar basis.
