Well I'm pretty sure that this is a Camaro site I would say a Yenko Camaro. And Yenko a I'm sure that the Yenko would whoop up on the Mach 1.

However, the Yenko isn't a Factory car, that is a modded car, the Mach 1 would be a factory car. So just for fairness sake let's make it a :hail: '69 ZL-1 Camaro :hail: vs. a '69 Mach-1. Or even better yet a race that would be worth watching (because a '69 ZL-1 would blow a stock '69 Mach-1 away any day) a '69 ZL-1 Camaro vs. a :hail: '70 Boss 429 Mustang :hail: . I think the ZL-1 still wins but it would be a good race.

Well Yenko Never built a Vette, or a Firebird. And he also never used a 327 engine. I'm almost sure he was all 350's and Big Blocks (oh yea and a cool little 164c.i. Chevrolet motor that didn't even have a radiator in it )

I love the fact that Yenko modded and raced Corvairs that's great.

Um
#1- this is a third gen fbody site
#2- the mach 1 is not the match up for the ZL1...
#3- the propper match up would be the GT 500KR
#4- Yenko did make vettes, nova, chevelles, and camaro's... not birds.. Yenko was a Chevy dealership, as was Nickey, Baldwin, Berger... etc... you get the idea.
#5- Yenko put 396's or 427's... no small blocks that i know of.
#6- ZL1 owns all. 11.5 in the 1/4 out of he box on bias ply tires... imagine a good pair of slicks or even DR's.
#7- Chevy > Ford always when it came to power... just not in sales...
#8- Ralph Nader should die 100x over. Friggin tree hugger.
#9- A ZL1 would own a Yenko as the ZL1 had an all aluminum block, were the yenkos and other dealer items were iron block, alum heads.
#10- Yenko would own the Mach 1

Agree with you on all except...

#4 Yenko Built Vette's and corvair but not for resale, just racing purposes.

#5 Yenko Built a 1970 Nova with an L/T-1 in it and the last time I checked that was a small block Chevrolet that displaced 350 cubic inches. He also built a 1980 Camaro with a 350.

So the beginning and the ending is right on just a little confused in the middle. And I totally agree with you on the Nader comment (I'm a Corvair driving Republician) That liberal A-hole.

Didnt know about the LT-1 going in the Nova. LT-1 was a solid engine. 360 horse... purrdy sweet option if you didnt want a big block back in 70.
Yea, but yenko did build vettes!! I saw one of 3 (I think there is only 3) and it didnt look like a racing vette. It was blue with the white stripe... Yenko badges etc... Where is Yenko today... man we need these old dealerships back. Yea the LT-1 is a solid cam 350.

I would love to see some documentation on the Yenko Corvette. Just a pic would suffice (not a Race car but a stock appearance Corvette with sYc on it).

He died back in the 80's in a plane crash if I'm remembering right.

Wasn't the Yenko Vega a turbo 4cyl?

Yes Don Yenko died in the 1980's ('85 I think)

And yes the Yenko Vega was turbo charged 4-cylinder and put out around 155 hp.

Didn't the Yenko's run mid 11's? No Mach 1 could ever compete with that off the showroom floor. It would take something along the lines of one of the Tasca Ford Mustangs or a Thunderbolt to compete with that.

The sYc car would show that Mach 1 what real HP is.

Yeah, those Yenko cars are insane! My next door neighbor has one of 100 Yenko Stinger Corvairs. He is almost done restoring it, and I must say, I am a liitle jealous.

Actually the 1970 Nova's with LT1's were COPO cars and Yenko bought them all and put his name on them and sold them in the states. There are two known examples of non-Yenko LT1 Nova's in Canada since the COPO Nova's were only sold as Yenko's in the USA.

Oh and BTW guys this is a fun conversation but it's not third gen....
