hey guys help me out..........
there is this pusstang around here thats sporting nitrous,headers,flowmasters and probably a gear, its a 2001 i think....heres my question.....my new motor is almost done, it is a 355, new ported polished vortec heads..1.92-1.50..zz-9 cam,sdpc vortec tpi,( polished runners ) bbk 52mm throttle body, edelbrock headers,crane roller rockers, ported plenum,and 24# injectors. flowmaster cat back, 2.77 gears..is this guy gonna take me or do you think it will be close?..i dont know the h.p. of this motor but im hoping for at least 275 rwp, and im not going to run nitrous, help me out guys..........

depends really. what rear gear are you running and does it hit posi?
275 hp with a moddest 20% loss due to drive train lets say an even 60 hp + your 275 rwhp your looking at 335 hp at the flywheel.
a 2001 GT runs around 240 to 260 hp i'm guessing if the 2003's have 265 hp. that is flywheel hp plus a moddest 100 shot he's looking at 340 to 360 hp with a stick ( i'm guessing ) and gears as you say.
personally i think he has you by 2 cars lengths if he can launch and drive it. if not i'd say you cause of the auto. add some drag radials and you'll make alittle up and might be able to hold him off from catching you but 3rd gear in 700R4's are weak IMO.

my gears are 2.77 with posi...im wanting to change to 3.77, and i can get everything i need from 9-bolt.com..i dont care if i get outrun i just dont wanna be embarassed ( 2 cars or more) lol..maybe i wont be...............

my fellow 3rd gens, if i do decide to run nitrous can i put the nozzles in the tubing in front of the throttle body like ive seen in some pics or do i have to buy the throttle body from nos that already has the passages built in?.....thanks

You're running up against what should be a 12 second car. There's a lot of variables there with one big one...traction. He won't put that power to the ground on street tires.

well, i know when mines done we will meet. im gonna let him decide where to run at ( dead stop, 20 mph etc ) this way i will know where his car is the strongest and if he outruns me i will know where to make my improvements. as of now its the mustang to beat in my area. thanks for the help guys......third gens rule...:hail:
