- PULLED - 97 Eclipse GSX
I followed an eclipse with bad taillights, no badges and an exhaust up onto 6th ave today, it was dinnertime on fathers day and no cars were out so I came up on him to let him know I wanted to go. All too willing to go, he went and got the jump on me. I dropped into second at about 25 and got on it, so far so good. My fender was even with his door and he wasnt pulling. My car only really gets up from about 50-80 so I figured I had a good chance if the race lasted. I kept up with him into third and started pulling immediately. At this point he hit the brakes, and it was done... Not a kill, but at 65 or so, I was still hella pulling. He pulled up and we heard the blow off valve and he said it was a GSX. Sure glad we went from a roll.

Man, you need to get some headers and a high-flow (or no) cat on that car and really bring out its potential. That is, if your talking about the car in your sig. You would have probably taken that Eclipse easily if you had those two things.

I was in the beater 442 in my profile, but yeah both the 442 and the thirdgen need headers. The thirdgen is still using the stock 305 exhaust manifolds. I think it would hit like a 14.8 with headers, a y pipe and a good cat... And thats still with the stock 2.73 open rear end.

Those gsx's are quick, one of my friends has one and it beat my other bud's 69 javelin 390. I'm honestly suprised you even kept up.

Nice run! A friend's '95 Talon AWD TSI ran mid 14's in the mid 90's stock. It didn't take much to get it into the 12's @ 105

yeah he was a basic ***** with a quick car. Just the ***** bolt ons... Exhaust, wing, bad tail lights, probably no downpipe or boost related mods. I think 14's is a good guess for how fast he was running, but a car that runs mid 14's on an awd launch pulls less than a rwd car that hits the same number... like I said, I'm glad we ran from a roll.

I ran one of those a while back when I was basically stock except for the headers. I was a little surprised that he kept up as well as he did...
