Turned canibal... sorta.

Coming home from work tonight I noticed a thirdgen Camaro coming up behind me. I was just reaching a passing zone and it pulled out and got around me.
I got on the gas a little to catch up. We came to a redlight going up hill with 2 lanes. There was already a car in the left lane so I stayed behind the Camaro in the right. It was a purple 91-92 RS LO3. When the light turned green the RS got on it... kinda made me cringe. The pass rear spring looked shot with how much it compressed. Got about a third of the way up the hill and cleared the other car so I pulled out to the left lane and got by the Camaro pretty easily.
From there the road turns to an on-ramp with a long sweeping corner into the highway. I had slowed to the let the RS start and catch up, but once I hit the corner I gave it some gas and never saw the headlights again.

Oh and the sad thing... I had the daily driver Maxima.

Jay,

The humanity! Its about the principle of the matter haha it is a shame man but lets hope this will inspire the owner of the camaro to spice up his engine a bit. Sounds like you had fun though.

Re: Turned canibal... sorta.

see we need to go missionary here at tgo, what you ought to have done is beat him, then give him like a TGO card or something saying :
"you got SMOKED, go here and get FASTER FOO!"

"thirdgen.org"

along those lines we need a site motto for a tagline, "shaming the rest of the automotive community since 1982" sounds good,, right? what you got something better??

How true....

Our "musclecars" are getting beat bu Infinity 6 bangers...
Modern 4 bangers are whooping our asses...
Our mpg sucks, for the power they produce...

Don't get me wrong....I love our 3rd gens. It's just that, as far as HP and MPG goes, our cars don't have it. If you build the power, you've probably gone LT1/LS1, Stealth Ram (LT1 style). Yes, you can build HP in a TPI, but everybody runs from the 4500RPM "brick wall". Even with siamesed runners, while your RPM range extends, people typically don't STAY there, but gog Stealth Ram afterwards.

Sorry,. I'm just being real...

Re: Turned canibal... sorta.

yea, in the modern day a tpi car is at it's most useable/fast if it's tuned to do much the same as it did when it was produced, lots of low end torque and screw the hp.

wow i expected to get a flame for that shame comment, almost deppressing to hear agreement.

cmon we still have a competitive suspension, arguably the best put into f bodies, and also we have the lightest, and stiffest for that lightness, chassis.

when tpi came out i'm sure there were big block guys that were wondering how much longer their street dominance would last, haw many big block cars you see being built for anything but pure drag duty these days?

Re: Turned canibal... sorta.

It's only to be used if a fellow thirdgen is beaten. Just cut out the whole "shaming the rest of the automotive community since 1982" We don't need to mock ourselves.

Oh, ok I didn't think of it like that before. Mr. T would be a nice touch though.
