1/4 mile and 0-60 time on a '92 Z28

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times. I ran a search and didn't find anything.

I have a stock '92 Z28 auto with an LB9. I was just wondering what would be ballpark for 0-60 and 1/4 mile times....

Thanks!

Re: 1/4 mile and 0-60 time on a '92 Z28

I have the same car with 2.73 gears and it ran mid 16s stock. But I'm pretty sure the transmission wasn't at its best because on the way home it crapped out on me and I had to tow it 100 miles. And while I was on the track it was shifting at too high RPM's. I'm planning to go again this year with a better transmission and I am hoping to be in the 15's.

By the way it sucks when your buddy in a sunfire gt is only .2 slower than you and another buddy in a kia sephia is only .4 slower.

16's? ouch.... Hopefully it was due to your transmission problems. I was hoping for some where in the mid 15's.

I hear ya there though. It does suck that all these little 4 bangers are close to us in power. Oh well, I bought the car because I grew up with the third gens and I love the looks. I'm not going to be street racing with it anyways. I was just wanting to know what it was capable of.

Re: 1/4 mile and 0-60 time on a '92 Z28

I didn't expect my car to be very fast, but it sure is a lot more fun to drive than those fwd 4 bangers. I love the feel of the torque. But if I could only have one car I would probably get rid of the camaro and keep the honda for reliability and mpg. Hopefully that doesn't happen though.

I also need to do some suspension work because the back of my car is way to loose, and I also want to install some 3.42 gears. That would make a good improvement. I haven't ruled out 3.73's though since its not a daily driver. My goal is to end up with low 14's. But that will probably be with an L98.

Re: 1/4 mile and 0-60 time on a '92 Z28

Mine seems to have a lot of get up and go to it, but my 2 previous cars was an '87 Camaro with a 2.8 liter in it and a '99 Mustang with a 3.8 liter. So that's all I have for comparison.

That's one reason why I was expecting 15's out of the Z28. I saw 1/4 mile times for my Mustang was in the mid 16's and my Z28 feels a lot faster than my Mustang.

I'll probably keep mine pretty much stock. I do want to do some suspension upgrades though. Mine isn't a daily driver either. Just something to cruise around in when the weather is nice.

91/92 lb9's if in healthy shape, could easily run mid to high 14's if in good tune. does youre car have dual cats?

Have you experience 14's yourself? Was that with an auto or stick? I know the manual cars had better rear gear ratios and I believe had better camshafts. My car does not have dual cats, but I did install a magnaflow "high flow" converter at e-test time.

If I can get my personal car, not hypothetically, into the 14 second range that would be great. I'm planning to get some data logging equipment in the near future so I can see whats going on with it.

Re: 1/4 mile and 0-60 time on a '92 Z28

do a search in the tpi section. ive seen alot of 91/92 turning out great times. better than the 85-89lb9's i think all 91/92's got the l98 cam. and if you have dual cats, and disc rear. you should have a high 14 sec car. like i said. in good tune. does youre car have the stock exhaust and injectors? if so chance are the cat is clogged, and so are the original injectors.

I was told when I bought my car that the exhaust isn't stock. It doesn't have dual cats though. Not sure about the injectors. I'm assuming they're the original ones.

Here's a site with quite a list of stock vehicle times. It doesn't tell engine size (kind of an important detail to leave out...), and who knows how accurate it is, but it has quite the extensive list...

2.73 or 3.23 rear? If 3.23s, your car is capable of high 14s, if 2.73s id expect low to mid 15s.
