Recently a kid in school has been shooting his mouth off about his Hyundai Elantra. After listening to the crap for about a week I decided to see if he wanted to race my car. He had been talking about smoking a Cobra and that he would destroy my 89 Mustang. After he talked to some kids, he didn't want to race me anymore, but had his heart set on a friends 89 Camaro. The Camaro is a stock 305 with an auto, and the Elantra is a 2001 with a five speed. I personally feel that the Camaro will destroy the Hyundai, but the kids in my school are idiots. My real question is can a 1989 305 auto beat the 16.4 the Elantras run.

Hmmm, even if it's a TBI, and the Camaro driver has his head up his butt, the elantra's still going to lose.
If the Camaro driver knows what he's doing, I don't care if John Force is in the elantra, it's going to lose.

Is that Elantra a 5-speed or an auto? For some reason the 2001's don't seem as quick as the previous few model years did.

my moms got a bone stock 2000 elantra , the thing is slow as ***** , the best we could get out of it was a 17.1 . this is an auto , but still , if you lose to this car , just sell your camaro

 

The funny thing is, the kids new nickname is John Force, because of how he drives.

The Elantra is a 5-speed, but the driver doesn't know how to drive, the only reason he has the car is because mommy and daddy have lots of money.

His new kick is that he will beat all these kids in his dads 95 Corvette. I've already offered to race the 'vette in my dads Nitroused 5.0. I figure that will be an easy win seeing as that the 5.0 has run 13.72 bone stock, except fpr gears and pulleys.

Either way the Camaro should walk all over the Hyundai unless its running as crappy as mine. I'm constantly losing stoplight races to Geos

I know the feeling Maksik. I remember the day I would pull my 92 bone stock camaro up along side anything and race. I knew I wasnt gonna win them all, but it was fun to try. My baby now has 177000 miles on her, now I am afraid to even pull up along side a *****. Fear of embarrassment. Just in case anyone is wondering, we got another motor on standby. Finding time to swap them is the problem. I might start racing everything I see, so they will be in total shock when my 355 blows them away sometime in November.
