92 3.1 vs 83 5.0
i just want to hear opinions on who you think won then i will tell you all. Ist a stock 1983 firebird s/e 305 4 barrel vs a stock 1992 firebird with the 3.1 liter, so who do you choose?
83 305 should win, advantage weight, HP, and torque, Unless the 305 is running like crap it should be the winner.
Are they auto or manual, if auto 305 and man 3.1 could be close.
Still my money is on the 83.

I gotta put my bet on the 3.1 simply cuz i drive a 92 Camaro with a 3.1 and its a pretty strong little car....
how does the 83 have a weight advantage???
and again, it will depend a lot on driver and who's auto or stick...
there is my two cents
take it and run boys....
hahaha

I bet it was close what gears does the 305 have? if it had 3.23 or more I bet the 305 won but, if it got 3.08 or 2.73 the 3.1 would at least take it in the short runs

the wait is over. The 305 jumps off the line a lot quicker and keeps a good carlength till about 75mph when the 3.1 starts to catch but never got ahead before the race was over. We would have kept going but slow people always end a street race early. And the 305 i believe has 3.08 rears.
for one... i haven't read the entire post yet... i'll finish after i reply...
its possible for him to win... i doubt low end... but definitely top end...
back with my 2.8L i destroyed a 305tbi... i know its not a carb one but nonetheless... i beat him top end
and now with my 3.4L i destroyed another 305tbi off the line... took him clean...
it's possible...
id go with the 305 tho...
but it's possible
i certainly proved it could be
