How do I take a throttle body apart?

I'm having an impossible time figuring out why my TPIS throttle body sticks when the car is running, but not while it's off. I want to take the throttle body apart so that I can pull the rod out and lubricate it, and while it's apart I want to replace the throttle spring. This throttle body doesn't seem to have the snap to it that my other ones have.

I'm looking at my spare one, and on the throttle bracket side, there's just the fat end of the pin. On the other side, it seems to be a flat piece that the TPS lever is attached to.

I'm not sure where to start here. Obviously the butterflies have to come off, but that's easy. It's getting this shaft out that's got me stumped. Anybody done this?

I'm going to need to pull the TPS back off. I thought I remembered seeing a screw underneath it too. Last night I was looking at my stock one and didn't see anything, but since TPIS has to take them apart to bore them out, I'm sure their attachment scheme is different than stock.

Since everybody on ne3g is breathing down my ******* for not just replacing the whole throttle body, I'm anxious to get this one apart, clean and lubricate it, and install a stiffer spring to see how it works out.

Jim,

My hat's off to ya man! I've looked a few of my throttle bodies over (stock), and I don't think I would attempt disassembly of a throttle body for these cars (at least not the stock pieces). Heck, it doesn't even look like I have all the right tools. If memory serves correctly, it looks like some of that crap is riveted in. It looks like a major PITA. Now, what would it take to get you to take step-by step pictures of the whole ordeal and post it when you are done?

If you have the scre wunder there its really easy to do guys.

The plates are easy to get out. and that shaft slides right out.

I'm guessing it must be different on a TPIS unit?

The TPIS is the one he's talking about. TPIS bores a stock throttle body and installs larger butterflies. When they put it back together, instead of attaching it the way OEM does (which makes it basically non-servicable), I believe that they drill and tap the end of the shaft, and just use a screw and a washer to reattach it. If TPI383 and I are right, this should be pretty easy to take apart.

Well, TPI383 and I were right. One screw is all it takes to get the throttle body apart... except that I don't have a torx bit small enough to get the butterflies off. For the hell of it I lubed everything with Liquid Wrench instead of the silicone spray I used last time. I'm not expecting it to last long, but so far things have worked ok. I think that the tighter spring and proper lubrication of the shaft is going to do the trick.
