heyyy guys im in dire need of ur help.actually i just rebuild my cars engine and its having idling problems and is giving out black smoke........its a 350 tpi 5.7 helpppp

 

Black smoke = too much fuel
check your fuel system, too much pressure, injectors out of ohm range, tps adjustment, iac adjustment, timing adjustment, maybe even a tune up, might have flooded your plugs.
any check engine codes?

 

Thanks for your advise. I am getting two trouble codes from the ALDL connector. One is 2 flash pause 3 flash and the other is 3 flash pause 4 flash. Probably the second trouble code refers to the MAF sensor but not sure about the first one. Also, just found out that the brand new spark plugs have been shorted probably due to flooding. How can i check if it is really the MAF sensor at fault or the relay.

 

2,3 code is manifold air temp sensor
3,4 code is mass air flow sensor
i would reccomend you buying a complete shop manual for 82-92 camaros, it will tell you how to check your maf sensor, and just about everything else.

 

Thanks a lot for your help. Since i do not live in the US can you recommend a good service manual and also the source from where it can be purchased and then i will ask one of my friends living in the US to buy it for me. Can you also tell me where i can buy a good code reader.

 

haynes is pretty good manual cost $15-$20 at almost any auto parts store. www.autoxray.com is a good place to find a scanner. or you can just do the paper clip trick.
