middle 2 throttle body plate threads stripped !

Will this be an issue if i just use the outside corner bolts of the throttle body plate to bolt it down with??
Its all attached but i forgot to use anti seize on the bolts
yea i got too excited and forgot about that .... damn threads!!
anyhow so the corner bolts are all in and i put some black rtv sealant on both sides of the gasket .... or face the inevitable and drill them out / heli coil
I wont do the same mistake when bolting down that tps !!

was hoping its not such a big deal... anyone with some insight would be greatly appreciated

You might have issues with vacuum leaks. Get a vacuum gauge and attach it to the manifold and see how much vacuum you are pulling. I think 18psi or hg/m or whatever the reading is will suffice.

Thanks guitar,

Im goin to try to get some shorter bolts to see if that'll do the trick...
Last thing I need is a problem with vacuum.

Just so im clear, this is the throttle body plate that has "Tuned Port Injection" on it right? Now that I think about it I'm actually not sure if that would cause an issue with vacuum. Coolant might flow through that section of the throttle body instead, I'm not sure, I hope someone can back me up on this. If that is the case, and you cant fix the bolts, just do a throttle body coolant bypass, and you'll be alright.

Yes
It is the "tune port injection" plate. I cut the coolant passages and bypassed it. So it would not see any coolant through that area. Just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be a problem if left without the 2 middle bolts.

Thanks again Guitar!

It might seem a little "funky" but you can re-tap the holes for 10-32 screws.

Got anti-seize?

do you mean the plate ON TOP of the throttle body? i wasnt aware that it would make a differance in vacum if that top plate wasnt held down? i may be wrong.

Yeah see, I wasnt sure either, but there is a gasket under there, so I figured something might leak.

It is the plate on the top of the throttle body that usualy says Tune Port Injection. My whole concern was that I didnt want to loose vacuum. Does anyone know if there is an actual torque setting for these bolts or just hand tight??

Thanks,

Just snug, like 15-20ft lbs or whatever the torque for "snug" is, you dont want to over do it, or else...well you already know what happens =D

Thanks everyone for your help!

I checked the threads for the tps sensor and they look horrid so I guess I'll be a drilling ! Might as well since I'm at it.

I got the throttle body from one of those guys on ebay that took my old throttle body and swaped it out for a 52mm. Must have been my luck since I was trying to save some money. This guy charged me $167.40 for it. Not too bad of a deal if there was no other issues with it.

I appreciate everyone's input.
