Im getting ready to start the lt1 cam swap in my 305 tpi

The car now runs 14.4 on motor and 13.5 on 100shot

But its the stock cam so I figured I could gain a little with the lt1 cam swap


But im worried that the stock tune is not going to run with this cam.... I have heard that it does and I have heard that it doesnt...... So does anyone have any ideas on if this is going to work?

We just put a zz4 cam in my mostly stock 350 tpi and it runs great without tuning..... But I dunno any imput is great.

The car runs real good but just looking to see what it can do.

 

it will run with the LT1 cam, but as with any modification, it will not live up to it's potential without proper tuning.

 

So i will have a slight gain but not the complete one b/c of the tuning issue?

 

yep i'd say it will run ok with that LT1 cam, but yes, a tune will get the most out of it. A tune will wake up a stock motor let alone a cammed bolt on motor.

but be careful with LT1 cam and 1.6 rockers, that will probly put you over max lift for the heads which is around .480"

 

Well thats what im going to try..... replace the springs and see if I can get that used cam fit and the 1.6 rr

if it dont clear, then run 1.5 rockers or get valvespring shims and offset retainers or offset locks to raisethe assembly up abit to get more clearance

 

Thats what I planned on doing...... Im going to start tonight and see what happens
