Black smoke 1991 305 TPI

I have a 1991 Trans Am 305 TPI. Starts great, runs good, seems to hesitate at about 50 miles/hr. Check engine light comes on, black smoke out the exhuast. Try to read codes by hooking A & B pins together, check engine light just flashes, no codes. New injectors, No vacum leak, EGR seems to be working. Any suggetions would be appreciated.

Re: Black smoke 1991 305 TPI

Before you spend alot of money on parts, you may want to connect a scan tool and monitor data to see what's actually happening. Tunedperformance is correct that it may be one of those components. There are also several other possibilities, such as a wiring or power supply/grounding issue that no number of new parts will ever fix. And diagnosis by elimination gets expensive real fast.

Didn't even noticed you bumped an old thread, was going to help the OP haha.
Check out the map sensor stuff, that usually causes rich/Rough idle symptoms when something is wrong.
