I have a 89 gta trans am. When i bought it the car had a carb and didnt have the TPI system. After months of digging i found a set but i was told it was off a 85 Camaro z. So the harness plugs in and hooks up, but i cannot get it to fire . i put some gass in the tb, and it fired up. I have narrowed down to the injectors not pulsing. I also had to bridge the fuel pump to get it to kick on.
I have searched the vats forums and i cannot figure out what the heck is going on. I have checked all kinds of parts of this. i have 12v on both injector wires. i have spark, i have 42 lbs of fuel pressure. there were some wires i could not figure out what they went to but the car starts and runs if i spray or put fuel in the tb.
Or get a different harness one for a 88 -89 would be the best since the alternator is on the drivers side. 88 has provision for the ninth injector so it can be left unplugged.
C100 might be different as well .
The 1227165 ecm was used in f body’s 86-89
259 is a superseded number for the 165. The memcal letters can tell if it’s for a 88-89 vats started in some 88s f body’s and 86 in the y platform.
If your fighting injector pulse you might have a bad icm. You can have spark but no injector pulse with a bad icm .
what is the memcal lettters?? How do i tell if the vats system is not pulsing the system. is there a way to just bypass it without the key or resistor?? this does not have vats key.
You can post the letters on the memcal (computer chip) and I’ll see if I have that file to see if it has vats.
If the harness is from 85 you would have a plug like this next to the ecm for the maf burn off module.
Another thing to test is that the purple/white wire is hooked up. It’s ecm tach reference.
Another thing that can cut injector pulse is if more that 4 volts if feed back from the tps.
Blue is tps signal gray is 5v reference.
Or another possibility shorted injectors shutting down the injector driver.
