TPI bogging down under acceleration

Hey guys i'm having an issue with my 87 z28 5 speed. The car normally runs fine but when I was driving this morning and I really gave it some gas the I noticed that the car was hesitating and bogging down. I had been driving the car for about 5 minutes so the car was somewhat warmed up. I just recently replaced the fuel filter and I am wondering what is causing this issue. Thanks in advance.

Re: TPI bogging down under acceleration

This happened after I replaced the fuel filter and I do not have any vacuum leaks.

If this a happened AFTER you changed the fuel filter make sure it’s tight and not sucking in air

Re: TPI bogging down under acceleration

Check fuel pressure to make sure it is within spec. Maybe the fuel pump is getting weak. If possible test while driving with a helper to see what happens under load.

Re: TPI bogging down under acceleration

The car is only bogging down when accelerating when I first get in the car but the issue goes away after driving for about 15 minutes

Re: TPI bogging down under acceleration

Use an ohm meter to check your coolant temp sensor. 2 pin sensor in the front of the intake manifold.

Then compare your reading to this chart

Re: TPI bogging down under acceleration

Tape a fuel pressure gauge to your windshield and try to reproduce the issue.

this. fuel pressure would be the first thing I would checkhere. Its easy to do and if you don't have the gauge they are 35$ on amazon for a quality Bosch kit (example of the one I have)
Amazon Amazon

Only hard part is viewing it while driving... tape works here as Komet said.

Boy, if it was me, and all I did to the car. ALL I DID, was change the fuel filter, then the fuel filter sure would be prime suspect #1.

Agreed, I'd also be having a second look at the last changed item.

Re: TPI bogging down under acceleration

Check your fuel return lines. The increase in fuel flow from a brand new filter will often dislodge a piece of debris down the line and if it doesn't hit an injector, or make it safely to the tank, then it could cause problems with fuel return.
