Need help on connector for 1987 iroc

Hey,

Looking for help. I have a male two prong connector coming out of the wiring harness on the driver's side firewall. Have no idea what this connects to. Cannot locate anything. Would greatly appreciate any assistance and especially photos of what this connects to. I have a 1987 iroc 5.7L L98. Pic of wire in question below.

The angle and shadows make it difficult to determine. Is one of those wire a black/pink stripe, or something else?

Yes it appears to be one pink and black striped wire and one black wire.

It might also be the A.I.R. divert valve solenoid connector.

My egr connector is (was) at exactly that space, behind drivers side head.

My EGR Valve and EGR Solenoid are both connected to other connections on the passenger side. Perhaps on my year that setup is different. I will have to look into the Air Divert Solenoid.

Would anyone who has a 1987 350 TPI be able to perhaps give a photo of this connector on their car showing what it is connected to?

I have a Trans Am, which is partially semi-half-backward from the IROC. Positively identify the wire colors and you'll have your best hint.

Re: Need help on connector for 1987 iroc

On my 88 GTA it connects to another pigtail that connects to a solenoid vertically inserted into the bottom of the plenum, not sure what the name of this specific solenoid is.(not my pictures, just found googling this forum)
EDIT: as noted by posters below, this is the IAT temp sensor

Re: Need help on connector for 1987 iroc

Yeah, on my 87 IROC the pigtail being talked about is connected to a female connector on the passenger side and then connects under the plenum which is the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor. That pigtail on mine has the same male 2 pin type connector as the one in my pics so it would not connect together.

I appreciate everything you guys have been suggesting. I have have seen at least 3 threads from others asking about the same connector in the same location. Some are saying that this "mystery" connector comes up on the 1987 Camaro and that it does not connect to anything possibly being used for other purposes or perhaps features my IROC may not have.

I am beginning to think that this may be true and not connect to anything.

Thanks guys

Re: Need help on connector for 1987 iroc

Was going to suggest to check that temp sensor. I have an 87 350 TPI, I'll doublecheck mine tomorrow. Was also going to suggest speed sensor connection but I can't remember if it was two prong like that
