how high can i rev this 305 tpi motor without breaking it??

I have a 88 305 tpi motor that was fully rebuilt, bored, honed, new bearings the whole bit 7k miles ago.I am putting all kinds of mods that will make good power to almost 6000 rpm.How high can i rev but still be in a safe range.I dont want the bottom end to fall apart after all this stuff. Thanks

REV LIMITS

HEY

I HAVE A 1985 IROC Z CAMARO 305 TPI ENGINE

THE REV LIMIT ON THE CAR IS AROUND 6000RPM

THE 305 TPI ENGINES CAN ONLY REV TO 6000RPM UNTIL SOMTHING BLOWS IN THE ENGINE

THE CAM ON THE 350 TPI ENGINES WILL ONLY PUSH THE CAR UNTIL THE REVS ARE AROUND 4500 - 5000RPM AFTER 5000RPM THE CAR REVS BUT IT DOESNT PUSH THE CAR WITH VERY MUCH POWER ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS

IF U HAVE A 350 TPI ITS ABOUT THE SAME

I reved mine well past 6500 rpms (damn 700r4 wouldnt shift). But like said, you dont need to rev with a TPI.

with my 305 (not in my transam that has a 350) I've reved mine to about 7500rpm a couple of times. but I'm not recomending it AT ALL. actually anything you take it over 5000 you are getting more and more in the risk zone. I've seen $10,000 race engines spin a bearing at 4500rpm. I mean **** happens too so its hard to say just how high you can rev yours. ya know what I'm saying?

How good of rod bolts did you put in it when your rebuilt it? I have revved my similar rebuilt balanced 305 to almost 6k w/o incident. I don't do it on a regular basis though and have determined that I probably should stay below 5500.

I rev my LB9 to 6K all the time, at least according to the stock tach. My trans does not shift until I hit 6K, and yes my TV cable is adjusted properly. Hell, the shown "redline" is at 6K. My motor has just over 100K on it, no knocks, good oil pressure, no problems. If you rebuilt your motor with quality parts, I wouldnt worry about it too much. You'll stop making power before the bottom end gives up.

My old 305 (with a lot of sluge in it) spun 7600 rpm. Didn't make any more power after 4500rpm.

You can rev it as high as you want, the point is with tpi your not gonna need to go over 5000.

Mine spun past 6 grand (my tach only reads to 6K) on my LG4.

Throttle got stuck and I pushed in my clutch because the brakes weren't slowing me down at all. Then I turned off the ignition.
Tried to get the gas pedal unstuck didn't work, started it up while coasting, RPMs flew up so I shut her down again.
Finally throttle got unstuck and I was able to slow down.

Now, everything above happened when I was doing about 120mph on the highway, this was very scary since I had no power brakes or power steering and doing a buck twenty.

Motor still runs great today, 150k miles on stock bottom end.

Oh, and if you have a 5 speed car, don't turn off the engine while the car is in gear, car will attempt to start itself up, make a bunch of loud explosions and blow a huge cloud of smoke and sparks out of the tail pipe.
