need Ideas on cleaning and detailing tb.

I have the tb of my tpi, I want to clean it up, inside and out. What is the best way to clean it.

Should I remove the sensors. Do they have gaskets to replace if i remove them.

Should I reset my tps, if I remove it. What is the best way to reset it.

anyone painted their tb. post pics if you have.

Im not trying to sound stupid. I have cleaned carbs before. I just dont want to hurt the sensors. They dont come cheep.

I did a search, but it didnt realy tell if the sensors had gaskets or not. or if I had to reset the TPS.

I was wanting to get ideas, like who has polished or painted their TB. and wanted to get some pics.

Remove the TPS and IAC motor, then have at it. Carburetor cleaner is a solvent, and will dissolve teh carbon resistive block in the TPS if it happens to get inside it. It can't help the insulation varnish in the windings of the IAC stpeer motor either, and since you should clean out the idle air passages as best you can, removing the IAC motor should be mandatory.

what i did was i pulled the TPS and the IAC(has a gasket)sensors.i pulled the top and bottum plates off of the TB.i was carefull when i took thes off because there are gaskets on these.i then took the TB and the top and bottem plates over to the wire wheel and went to town.a fine wire wheel WILL polish them.using some tape i then covered the whole TB with a large shop towel leaving the driver side throttle return spring exposed.i painted that flat black.i then took some red model paint i had in my tool box and painted the "TUNE PORT INJECTION" on the top plate.

I painted mine then polished the tuned port lettering so it stool out better. taking everything apart is easy just as long as you have a multi meter to get the TPS set to where it needs to be, I dont remember the values it needs to be at but if you do a search on adjusting TPS you will find it I also think there is an article on the tech tip page for it as well

can I reuse the tps and iac motor gasket, or will I have to get new ones.

Does gm have the gaskets? What are the part numbers for them?

I want to get the full potential of the tb, cleaning it will bring it back close to new.

I just ordered a set. (GMP# 17113115) It comes with three; throttle body to plenum, IAC to throttle body, and one for between the throttle body and the lower passages. At $20.35
I think I got ripped off, but I didn't call around.
