If everything else is fine I would go with a Transgo reprogram kit to get the firmer shift and correct some of the early models problems. This kit can be installed without removing the Tranny and will greatly improve the tranny shift points.
I have a Trango reprogram kit that I was going to use in my tranny, however I decieded to buy a Pro-built street/strip and a A.C.T. 9.5 Converter. Will let it go for $80.00

i may just take you up on that offer if you go lil lower,
you have an 84 Z with 700 and 3.73 also, where are you at ? what was hardest things to do when were putting the 283 in it ?
How did you find .080 pistons ?
did you sleeve engine before boring ?
thanks,
R

Hey fast what are you doin here? Stared right at your nic and sig and didnt even realize who you were. At least till I checked the truck board. Lots of good info here. Been readin bout shift kits myself, but I'm t350 so went with b&m. If I had a 700 from the info here i'd definately go transgo.
