700r4 to th350 question

I'm switching my crappy 700 out for a built th350 i use in my chevelle. I know i need a b&m kit and different driveshaft, but does anyone know how much longer the driveshaft is. Of for that matter can i use a 9" tailshaft for it and bolt up? thanks

The driveshaft will need to be 3" longer if the TH350 has a 6"
tailhousing. Changing the output shaft and housing to 9" is a
PITA and not free, either. Getting a proper length driveshaft or
shortening one that is too long would probably be the thing to do.

I performed this swap in the past & I used a long tail 350 trans with the stock 700r4 driveshaft. U can also use the stock driveshaft out of the 82-84 3speed auto camaro/firebirds with your short tail 350 trans.

your not understanding, it's the tailshaft AND the tail housing that need to be elongated. That means the tranny needs to be torn into and it's gonna cost some serious $, get a longer driveshaft, it's cheaper and easier.

www.spohn.com sells a extreme duty driveshaft for the swap. Costs like 300$ but its probably worth it.
