t5 fill plug

Hi, my fill plug on my T5 wont budge... the shifter is off and i can put oil from there, i have heard its 3 liters.
but i want to make sure i have put enough and it's not overfil...
I have 4 liters of AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Lube. (hey this stuff is blue btw, weird!!)

So my question is, can i use torch to heat up the plug or is it dangerous for the aluminium casing & the gears inside (well i put 1 liter of lube alredy...)

The tranny was fully drained, cant find the specs.

Thanks

My favorite tool is a 1 inch inside diameter pipe, about 1.5 feet long. If it's stuck but not stripped out, use a 3/8" ratchet with that pipe and you'll get it out. I just did this about 2 days ago to change my fluid. Otherwise, the T5 holds 2.9 quarts if you need to fill from somewhere else.

2.9L then

thanx , 2.9 liters, perfect
well i alredy tried the pipe trick, it wanted to strip but i stoped...
i guess i can torch it carefully, i'll check at work tomorow what my co-worker will say about this...

The car should be back on the street this weekend for the first time this year YAAAAYYY!!!
if my carb rebuilt turn out good, i also broke a little screw onto it, i'll try do find a way to fix it, no problem i think it'll be just fine.

thanx for the info... i'll go put the 3liters in there before going to bed

Can you get your drain plug out? If so, I know a way to fill it from the drain plug. Sounds impossible, huh? If you can get that plug out, let me know and I'll tell you the secret.

you can apply heat to aluminum it won't melt like it was made of ice. thing to remember aluminum doesn't turn red as it heats up. if the trans is empty use the fill hole on the side of the case.

Nice pic! I have to change my oil too! I suppose one should use anti-sieze on the plug before installing it to prevent sticking?

No.

Use Teflon tape. Then it will seal, as well as not sticking.

Thanks, I guess all these wasted cases I have laying around are good for something after all.

wow thats old tread,
I did not do anything about the fill plug, since someone told me that the T5 needs 3quarts of oil in it. I filled it from the shifter hole.

I've put some Amsoil 75-90 , thats syntec gear oil, the tranny shift much better than before (it had gear oil, but old, non-syntec)
