i have a 700 r4 in my 1988 tbi k2500. just over 2 years ago i got a new trans put in at the stealer. it startet so hunt real bad an dnot shift right then about a week ago i lost second gear. it tacks out first then gose strait to drive. if i am going 40-45 and manualy shift to 2nd there is no thing there. i can rev it to the point that i hit my rev limeter 5600. so i brought it in the othere day. they told me today that they where going to check the valve body an clean the pan. imo i think there full of it what do you guys think could be wrong with this thing.

up date they said that there is a pin or some thing in the valve body that is sticking causing it to skip shift over second. any one know enough about 700 r4 s to say if this is

hay i admit that just cuz some one works at a dealer dosnt make them bad. i just hate all the red tape that dealers through at you. like one of the shops up hear only gives there mechanics 1/2 time for warranty work

Thats probably to enocourage them to do a good job and not screw anything up the first time. Even if you bring it in for warrenty (and they get piad only half time) they most likely arn't going to a lousy job because that just means you will be in again for more warrenty work and its even less money for them. I think if they are stealing from anyone there, its from the mechanics.

GM will re-imburse the dealer most of the time. There are alot of reasons why they won't, and yes, the rate is much lower. On a Water Pump that Chiltons or Mitchells says it takes 3.0 hours, GM usually pays about 1.7-2.2 hours.
It sucks, but its gotta be done. Crap work is better than no work.
GM will also not pay for "related" or "repeat" failures. If a tech replaces a water pump for a coolant leak, and it comes back for the same coolant leak, GM will request the "failed" parts to be sent to the Warranty Parts Center and if it appears to be technician error, the claim will be kicked back, which puts the cost of the repair on the dealer. Some dealers will take the flagged hours back from the tech. So it behooves the tech to do it right the first time and move on.
P.S. its not just GM either, its ALL manufacturers. If you go to flatratetech.com, you'll see that some Ford techs are trying to get a class action law suite because of Ford's warranty times.

well up date they had to give me a new trans a band in the other one broke in half and messed up the case. on top of that i looked at my slip and they clamed the same amount of time as i it took the first time. so it lookes like to be the dealer is screwing some one. i talked to the tech and he said he only got 2.5 hours for it. i was like
thats
cuz it is a 4wheel drive and you have to pull the plow frame to get the trans out thats a hour there alone.
