They are not very strong.

must be pretty bad to slip behind a 2.8!

I read the 200c were not durable, unlike the 200 4R which holds up in ordinary applications. You will find info on this if you do a search.

the 200c is exceptionally weak. - Tell you're friend to start looking for a t350 in a junkyard.

ordinary? low 10 sec GN's aren't exactly what I'd call ordinary....unlike the 200 4R which holds up in ordinary applications.

The 200 4r is basically the same thing as a 700r4 but has closer ratio gears, it was designed for use in light cars.
Now if its actually true that its pretty much a 700r4 i wouldnt trust it too much in these big boats!

The 200-4R and the 700R4 have nothing in common. They're entirely different designs.

I haven't heard of anyone building a 200c (it fails behind ordinary engines), but a 200-4R is rated to 330 ft.lbs. stock, and reputedly can be built to deal with a supercharged nitrous-injected small-block. It's a nice little tranny with even gear spacing and a high o.d. good for both higway & strip. Being small should make for low h.p. loss, I guess?

My memory sometimes fail me, but doesn't some repair books deal with the 200 and the 700 in the same book, many parts being the same?Originally Posted by Apeiron
