i pulled the governor .
on the governor there are 2 sides.
how controls the governor the shiftmoments?

Hi,i really need some help.
over here in europe almost no one understand the problem.,

i changed the weight/springs 3 times now.

the problem is that i get no 2-3 wot-shift.
with heavier weights i went with my 1-2 shift from 5600rpm to 4800rpm
with the latest combo my part throttle shifts are low and soft.
i used now the 2 heaviest weights one at a side.
i use a little heavy spirng one one side and the other side a light spring.

i want my 2-3 upshift also at 5300rpm and 1-2 also.
what can i do?
please

Check your transmission fluid level. I have run across multiple customers in the field, that believe that their 700r4 is going out. If the fluid gets low, the will often fail to shift into 3rd at WOT or sit there going 2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2 until the revs get real high then go into 3rd.

havent done this on a 700r4, but did it on my turbo 400.

Link that might help.

TCI 326500 Shift Point Adjustment Instructions

I found that the weights seem to affect 2-3 shift, and the springs affected the 1-2 shift, but thats my observations, with my motor. not for sure what
yours might do.

I basically weighed all the weights, then weighed the weights that were in it, and went from there. Same with the springs. it is a trial and error process.

on my TH400, the part throttle shifts are controlled not by the governor, but by the vacumn modulator. I bought an adjustable one from NAPA. about 12$ or so.

Don't remember for sure, but i think the next to lightest weight and the orange spring put me at 1-2 @ 5400 rpms, and 2-3 @ 5200 rpms. in a big block with th400.

if you use too light of weights, it might not shift at all.

Good Luck, and hope this helps.

ok,

i use the 2 heaviest weights now and a heavy spring and a light spring.
1-2 shift is solid @4800 rpm but 2-3 shift is still not there(over 6000rpm)
my part throttle-shifts are soft/low/weak now.
my next step is put out the light spring and go 2 steps stronger with the spring

Tom
everyone have another story about the weights/springs and thats confuse me.

Light springs, and weights raise the shift points, heavy springs and weights lower the shift points. It's an inertia thing the heavier wieght the quicker the valve closes the earlier you shift.

try a light/ heavy spring along with lighter weights this should help alot - you have a backwards combo for what you want right now- good luck
