I have a 91 rs and i was wondering what spline of axles it has in it? I know that some are 26 spline but i was told they may not all be the same, thanks

 

88 and up are supposed to be 28 spline while older ones are 26.

Old cars get stuff swapped around so you need to check anyway...

 

1990 an up are 28 spline. There's a slim chance a 1989 model will have 28 spines but most only have 26. It depends on the actual build date. All the earlier ones have 26 spline.

Ok now for my next question, what spline of axles would a 4th generaion camaro have? I have a spare posi carrier i was going to swap in if it will fit is why im asking, thanks

 

The 4th gens have 28 spline axles. The posi unit should fit as long as its "series" matches your gears. 3.08 and lower are 2-series and 3.23 and higher are 3-series.

 

i did a search with car-part.com and saw a 1991 with 26 spline



with as old as the cars are now its going ot be hard to say which it is, youll have to look to be certain, who knows if it is still original, or correct for the year and so on

i have a 91 rs. it had 28's. i run a torsen unit with a 3.42 gear.

 

Nothing saying the original 28 spline axle broke and the owner couldn't find a replacement so he swapped an earlier diff or axles/carrier into the 91.

You could just as easily have a 82 with 28 spline axles. It's a simple swap.
