WC T5 leaks at VSS
Hey All,
I have a WC T5 tranny which started to drip at or around the VSS.
It looks like it is coming from the VSS siwtch plug area. For a leak it is pretty clean eg: not dumping out fluid everywhere it just drips alot overnight when I park it.
I don't see any cracks. The tranny was rebuild and put back in. Is it [possible to screw up the VSS and cause a leak?
Is a leak at this point common on a WC T5? Any known fixes?
thx

Yes it is very common.
Could be the VSS iteslf, or it might just need a new O-ring around it.

Re: WC T5 leaks at VSS
Because in your post, you said When the VSS leaks, it will drip off of the VERY TAIL END of the trans, from back there where the VSS is about a foot BEHIND the center, and in the direction the fluid goes in. It won't ever make it to the center of the case because even if it manages to go toward the front somehow, it'll drip off the trans mount instead.
Therefore it's not likely AT ALL in your case.
Dripping from center of T5 gearbox.
can only be coming from the front somewhere....

yup
VSS is in the rear portion. Mine has a minor drip right coming from between the black plug in switch and the round thingy right beside it.
Its high enough in the tranny it will eventually stop dripping or the drip is now just a trickle. *NOT* a good idea to drive a leaky T5 so mine is heading into the shop today.

Re: WC T5 leaks at VSS
figured out what caused the leak
the bolt came out of the tq arm mounting to the tranny which caused the end to whack the tranny which broke the VSS which led to th eleak.
gotta luv the tq arm setup.
