It is from a 88 iroc is it a m39, or is it somthing else there are 2 more choices but I for got what they where.

What do you mean which model? You mean world class or not? If its from an 88 car, it's a world class.

I know it is a world class but when I went to order some parts they say they need to know if it is a m39 or the are 2 more I forgot what they where, the m39 shares all of the parts with another number but the 3rd number has it's own slave, clutch ball and so on, The other 2 numbers start with a m to.

My RPO codes for my trans are MK6 and MM5, I have both of those. But on the trans itself the number is DKL. Do you know if you have the 2.95 first gear or the 2.75 first gear? Mine is the 2.75 first gear. Another trans I have with the 2.95 first gear said DKB on it.

 

On the drivers side of the transmission there should be a tag. This tag identifies the transmission. With that number you can reference the year it was intended for and its respective ratios. My transmission id tag has the number (1330-196 or 5) or close to that which identifies it as 2.95 1st gear .63 5th gear for the '91 model year. '90 - '92 2.95 was standard for the TBI and most TPI motors, some '90-'91 and all'92 TPI's had the close ratio 2.75 trans with .75 5th gear which has "in theory" a better torque rating because of its numerically lower (multiplies torque/energy less), therefore it should be the strongest T5.

I have all the info available of T5 id numbers from '83 to '95 and will post in on this board or email it to Kevin. The list icludes all displacements, WC or non-WC, and gear ratios.

THe list is most useful when shopping for a junk yard trans. If I did not have the info, I would have been screwed 3 different times from local junkyards. Every trans they would come up with was a non-WC.
