Clutch problem
My clutch has been slipping for a couple of weeks now. I have been looking into replacing the clutch in the near future, but a new problem came up. When I was going home from work, I started my car. When I started to go, I immediatly noticed something wasn't right. It took almost no pressure to disengage the clutch. About the last 75% of the clutch pedal throw was very loose (almost floppy). I was able to get home, and park my car. I tried starting up again once I was home, but now the clutch won't disengage enough to get it to shift into gear. Can someone give me a suggestion on what to do, or what the poblem could be? Also, what would the price be for a shop to do the work (I don't have the tools or experience to pull the transmission)?

Re: Clutch problem
that happened tro my friends 95 cobra, it was the clutch going out, cost him 8 or 900 parts and labor at a good, reasonable local place
Re: Clutch problem
Your clutch problem just went into complete failure mode. Where you hoping it would repair itself??? Start checking the yellow pages and start getting quotes including towing. Not going to be cheap.

Re: Clutch problem
The slave cylinder was leaking. I replaced it and my car is driveable for now. I have a 1988 IROC-Z with a 305tpi and t-5 manual. Is there an easy way to know if I need a 10 spline or 26 spline clutch?
Re: Clutch problem
I know my car has a real hard time shifting into 1st and reverse.. I went through my paper work and found a receipt of a clutch job 2 years ago.. The clutch only has 6k miles on it.. So i knew it couldn't be going out already.. Then i read on and it said my clutch release rod needs to be extended because they used all of the adjustment. So i'm about 90% thats the problem with mine..
Dont know how old your clutch or all of the problems but it could be possible. :P

Re: Clutch problem
He has a hydraulic setup for his clutch release, I think yours (if it is indeed an 83) actually has a manual linkage. There is no way to adjust a hydraulic setup.
