T5 swap, going crazy!!!!

ok im at my wits end here, first of ive read all the sticky's and iv'e done searches but its all just to confusing so im hoping someone out there can put it all in prospective for me, ok let me tell you what all iv'e got going on, ok first thing i have a 89 350 tpi trans am gta with a 700r4 and 3.27 gears, ok i swapped out the tranny to a T5 that came out of a 91 firebird 305 tpi, alright so im done with all the other stuff except the wiring and the drive gears and driven gear and vss and reverse lights, ok now i did take the vss off the T5 and look down in there with a flash light and it has a blue gear, and the other gear is white, ok so what im asking is can someone tell me what parts im going to need to wire up the reverse lights and what gears im gonna need and what vss im gonna need and all that good stuff, plus part numbers would be GREAT or were to get these parts, also one more thing what do i do about the computer or prom/memcal ????? PLEASE I JUST WANT TO GET MY CAR DONE!

Re: T5 swap, going crazy!!!!

far as the gear go i can't remember what I used on mine, but to do the wirring for the reverse lights just use the plug and lead you should have removed from the donor car. It's the one mid way up the case on the driver side I want to say. There should be a blue and green wire that used to run to the automatic shifter. Cut those and splice them to the wires on the plug that goes to the reverse sensor on the tranny. It doesn't matter which goes to which because all they do is complete the circuit to turn the lights on. If the wires are a different color just strip the 4 lighter gauge ones and put the together until you get the reverse lights to come on.

Re: T5 swap, going crazy!!!!

I don't know, but I think that 350 is going to have too much torque for the t5. it probably wont last long in there. I'd be careful with it.

Re: T5 swap, going crazy!!!!

I made the swap in early March. I haven't dropped the clutch on it, but I have spun the tires on mine without a problem. My problem is that I need to go from a vss to a conventional cable speedo. Right now I'm using gps for speed.

Re: T5 swap, going crazy!!!!

where do the wires for the reverse lights come from? My car was an original 5 speed car, but now I run a glide and needing to find the wires for the reverse lights. I don't remember cutting the wires that went to the T-5 but dont see anything under the car except for the speedo cable. If I knew what color the wires were or where they ran to I can make it work.

you know im not sure where your reverse light wires are cause my car was originaly an automatic, but on mine the reverse light wires were attached to the gear shifter, anyway the wires are green and blue on auto's and manual's.
