I just found this on the web, does 144 In-lbs sound right to you? Does 18 ft-lbs = 144 in-lbs?

18 ft-lbs * 12 in/ft = 216 in-lbs
Really though, I wouldn't worry about being too exact. I can't recall ever having used a torque wrench on a tranny pan.

The torque spec is more about the gasket than the pan you use.

Went to a dealer today to pick up Dex 3. They said "AC delco does not make Dex 3 any more, its been replaced by Dex 6, which is supposed to be better then Dex 3." Is there anyone that can vouch for this? Is Dex 6 really better then Dex 3?

Source: GM Service Manual for 1992 Buick Roadmaster fitted with 4L60 = 700R4
Torque for the oil pan screws: 16 N.m
It is always good to use a torque wrench - it is always better if it is calibrated !!!

Which basically equals to 144 in-lbs. My torgue wrench lists both on it. My Tranny filter came with a rubber gasket, so thats what I'm using.
Re: 700R4 Pan Torgue Specs?
There are at least a couple different gaskets that match a couple different pans just in the normal run of production from 83-92. The one I'd be most concerned about is the basic cork gasket, and then my concern would be to not overtighten it. The rubber and treated cork gaskets are a little more forgiving, but again I'd go snug and then maybe another 1/4 turn. Torque specs are great for engineers, but I don't think any professional has ever broken out the inch lb torque wrench to bolt up a 700R4 pan.
