700r4 connections are different

I am replacing the 700r4 in my 93 formula, the 700r4 that I bought is out of a 87 transam. The issue is the electric plug on the 93 transmission is a round 5 prong and the 87 is a square 4 prong with 3 used. How can I make this transmission work in my 93 formula. the new transmission does have a aftermarket stall converter and shift kit installed. What do these control, lockup ? Can the wires be adapted? Are they needed with the high stall converter?

Thanks

Jim

change everything over that's different with regard to speedo drive gear / reluctor and VSS. Shouldn't be tough w/ the tailhousing being bolted on.

does the 93 bird come with the 4L60E, if so it's controlled by the PCM, I don't think it will work,... will it?

Re: 700r4 connections are different

a 4l60e wont work without a controller to control it. It would be like trying to run a 700r4 without the TV cable hooked up. Wont last long.

I dont know for sure but I think 92 was last year for 700r4 and 4l60e came out in 93 sounds like you have one of each.

The 1993 Formula is a 700R4, it just happens to have the round 5 pin plug, instead of the 3 pin square plug of earlier years. I'm not sure how you would do this, so call me. 909 795-1876 anytime in the afternoon. Dana

x2 on the 93 being a 700R4. My 93 has the square plug though...
