Found my major issue.
If you ever have shifting issue on a known good tranny check TV cable then Governor before EVER going into VB or shift kits.

I had a stuck tv shuttle valve. My shuttle valve had a nice ring cut in the aluminum sleeve so it would hang up. After installing the SK700Jr I replace the Valve Body also for one without the aluminum sleeve.

Note the install instructions? Mine was one of the 700 that had the aluminum sleeve in it. Apprently it was common for the aluminum sleeve to get a groove cut in it because of the side forces it takes from fluid flow.

Even after installing the the new VB I still had shift up problems, I had only 1st and reverse.

The moral of the story is to make sure you check TV, then governor. if your 700 has the rear TV sleeve look for a VB that has NO aluminum sleeve. Ill take photos of the ringed sleeve later.

Re: Installed a TransGo SK700jr

I recently installed this kit, and had decent results it shifts firmer but not quite as firm as id like, however the spacer that goes in the spring (item "c" in the photo above) was not in my kit nor was it in my vb to start with so I proceeded without it. I'm thinking this is the key to the firmness I thought it should have. What material was it made from, don't suppose you have a measurement of its length so I can fabricate one myself? Any ideas guys?

Item "C" that goes in the Red spring is to make sure the valve moves when WOT is applied. The vast majority of times the valve will move without this, but this is just in case. It only takes a couple of times of this valve not to move and you can finish the off the transmission. For firmer shifts and quicker downshifts, give me your email, and I can email the modified instructions to you. Larger boost valves and the Corvette servo are needed here for better durability at WOT.

Re: Installed a TransGo SK700jr

Then the drum and band are going away for the 1-2 WOT not to work here. You will need the larger boost valves and the Corvette servo installed at a minimum when you tear down the transmission and you should upgrade the 3-4 clutch pack. Everything else will need to be inspected when torn down to see if anything else needs to be replaced if it has low miles, otherwise a complete rebuild is in order.

If you don't already have the Corvette servo and the larger boost valves, this might help a lot. Worse case scenario, is you have these parts when you go through the unit.
