hello i have a 1984 camaro with a 700r4 tranny the tranny will not shift out of first so i pulled it out and want to get another 700r4 out of a diffrent camaro can i use any 700 r4 out of another camaro and it all match up or what will i have to do to make it work someone let me know please thanks

 

What year did the trans come out of?

Ensure torqueconverter is installed correctly.
When you get the shift cable in ensure it engages in all gears & selector lines up with gears selection.
Correctly adjust TV cable.

Connect cooling lines.
Maybe change fluid & filter. Verify fluid level.

Make sure all connections are correct.

Up to a 92 should work fine

 

I think 90 they went to a VSS, i say 89 and older so it works with mechanical speedo, i would swap speedo gears from your old trans without knowing what car it came from, i put a 700r from my wifes car with a 145mph speedo in mine which has a 85mph speedo and at 40mph its really doing about 65.

 

The VSS and mech speedo drive units interchange so simply R/R to suit whatever the car requires

 

Vetteoz what do you mean R/R? Because I need to swap from a vss to a mechanical speedo cable the 700R4 that I'm putting in is a vss and my car is a 89.
