Will this driveshaft work with my T-5?
I have read through many posts here that talk about the t-56 drive-shafts. I am looking for a replacement drive-shaft for my t-5 car. Some of the posts say that any t56 driveshaft will work, while others say that if it has a "harmonic balancer" looking thing on the yoke it wont work with a T-5.
The following are pictures of the driveshaft i am looking at purchasing. I was wondering if this was the harmonic balancer thing that was talked about and if it will or will not work with my t-5.

Thanks,
Han

if you buy it and you have a vibration in the drive train, then all you have to do is change the yoke on the front to an old style yoke and that should fix the vibration, other than that yes it should work just fine

I would look for a 3rdgen aluminum DS b4 you buy that 4thgen shaft.
3rds are smaller diam but thicker wall tube.
4ths a lil larger but very thin and full of carboard..

Re: Will this driveshaft work with my T-5?
I have done a lot of reading on here about the drive-shaft differences and the thin wall of the 4th gen shaft.
Full disclosure: My T-5 car is a SBC 240z that is stripped for autocross. While I am first and foremost a thirdgen guy, I wanted to build something different for autocross. I am going to have to shorten the drive-shaft to fit it in the 240. So I figure shortening the thing will help with the wall strength issue, plus I don't really want to cut up a "rarer" third gen aluminum piece. Since it's autocross and not drag, I figure that may make up for some of the wall thickness issues that are ran into as well.

I would buy something even cheaper like from a Ford and shorten and run that. As much as I believe in OEM parts and like aluminum drivelines, those thin-wallers are kinda crappy and there are people who will pay for them.

If you are going to cut one up, Y not do a custom aluminum shaft with whatever wall thickness you want??
It may cost more upfront but its worth it in the long run.

I could probably go the custom route, but the all of the documentation on this swap recommends the t5 or t-56 driveshaft.
