Shiftworks now has a USA made shifter cable for Thirdgens!
The pre-order price is $94.50 and the part# is K300. He has ordered all the parts and expects the parts to arrive in four weeks.
These are replacement cables using the factory brackets. Look here for the prototype thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...-auto-mod.html
You can order by emailing Herb: herb@shiftworks.com
Make sure to give full contact info and use the part# listed above.
Once the shipment is in, he will take product pictures and post the part on their website.
How is your cable performing? I called Herb on Monday to inquire if he had cable in stock.
He told me, he thinks the cable is 1 inch too long and he is researching, to make sure.
Seems like a guy who wants to make sure his product is correct.
Ordered one of these on Tuesday and plan on putting it in this weekend. With no orders coming in, he never got around to building any more and listing them on his website. Once it gets installed I owe him a report back on how it's performing.
I sent him an email to order one but never heard anything
That's discouraging. I spent considerable time with him making it happen. He makes good cables. Mine is still performing flawlessly. Maybe after a few more inquiries, he'll get on the ball.
I just was not willing to put in another $30 junk cable, only to have to replace it after just a month or so. Only so many times one can take apart the center console without some kind of plastic piece braking.
I sent him an email to order one but never heard anything
I had to call after sending an email. Since there aren't any assembled and packaged for sale sitting on the shelf, he might be slow to respond to emails about this item. He answered the phone and was great to work with though.
Got this installed and adjusted. Installation would have been easier if I didn't have long tubes on the car but it wasn't too difficult. Adjustment was easy once they explained the way to do it with this cable. Definitely worth the price difference compared to the ones available through the local parts stores. If anyone needs a replacement cable, definitely take a look at this one. It's about 3x the price of the ones from Autozone and OReilly's but much better made.
Ordered Friday delivered Tuesday $95.50 shipped via USPS to Honolulu HI
Herb is short handed so hard to keep up with emails best to call and leave a message he calls you back. Part # K300 Pleasant transaction quick shipping, looks like a quality part.
I noticed this thread as I was looking for some information on shifter cables as mine broke last week. I was able to get a replacement installed, but just phoned Herb and ordered this one so it can be my backup. I hope the shifter cable I have in my car right now will last for a while but I wanted to have this new one on hand should I need to replace cables in a hurry.
Put the shift works cable in when you get it. My cable broke in a parking lot and I had to jack up the car and put it in drive manually while the car was running to get home with the parking brake stopping the car from moving while I was under it, almost killed myself. Change cables when you get the new one.
Just called these people up. Guy said he still has them, just hasn't put them on the website. He said something like $85 for the cable and $12.xx for shipping, so close to $100.
I received my shifter cable the other day. It looks fantastic. It cost $85 and $35 shipping to Canada.
Just curious if any body has pictures of the cable installed, as the pictures previously posted are not showing up? Also, how much did you adjust the cable when you installed yours, as it allows for some adjustment?
I know that I can install the cable myself, but I might opt to take my car to a Transmission shop to have them adjust everything for me.
No real adjustment, just put it in where the old one was. The length of the cables are the same.
If you have trouble, post up a separate thread and we'll help you through it.
Got mine recently as well, but no time to install it (also pulled my lower back). The part came in fast and in canadian dollars after the conversion came out to about 150$ with shipping (pricey, but I hope this thing doesn't snap lol)
The cable is amazing. I had a transmission shop adjust it after I installed it. I couldn’t figure out the proper way to adjust the bulkheads. The c clip from the kit wasn’t the best and fell out, so the shop later installed one of their own and it has been good. Smooth shifts and feels very sturdy.
Ordering was easy. I phoned and they had the cable in stock.
