ATT AFRIKINGOODTIME or anyone else alternator?
My alternator decided it wanted to go tongiht i have a 140 amp in there lasted exactly 2 years. I know a Frekingoodtime said he had a 200 amp one were did you get it i need one ASAP my volts at idle go below the 13 and down below the second mark and when im driving are in the middle of 13 and the other number so i know its the alternator plus when i turn on my heater for a second all my lights dim. So any one know were i can get a high amp alternator i dont wana spend allot on this one the one i have now i spend 300 dollars on. Im probly gona go with a Duracrap from my work unless someone knows were i can get high amp one.
Powermaster 200 amp alt. that I purchased through Summit. It took some fabrication to get it in there--just to let you know its not a direct bolt-on unit. It was an application for the late model Chevy trucks.

Hmm search for High oputput alternator, in google. I bought a 160 one outta S.C. for 189 delivered, and it was correct case and all. Its been in 2 years, and still going strong. Tested it the other week, 172 amps at 2K RPM. 145 at idle.
I've decided to go back to the original alt for now- the reason- the alt to manifold brace I fabricated is not doing the job. The angle is bad and the alt also suffers from pressure against my Strut brace under hard motor twists. The 200 amp alt is has a larger housing that sits about an inch higher than the stock unit.
I'm going to just install it on my Chev. truck like it was intended for, and before next summer i'll invest in a 160amp stock size housing alt.- I'll put the alt. power pulley back on then.

autozone 108 amps for 60 bucks, life time warranty run 2 of them for a total of 216 amps and 120 bucks,
also 2 will put out more than 1 at lower speeds, if you really need the amps, more than 1 is the way to go.

Looks like I have bigger problems as a result of running the bulkier alt. The pressure it put on the serpintine system when it was thrusting against the STB binded the tensioner and the waterpump pulley. I'm replacing the tensioner & waterpump tomorrow because the hub on the shaft has a wobble- I don't want to loose the pulley on the road somewhere.
Sometime R & D goes good, sometimes bad, but you don't know unless you try. Oh well.
