if my mains are gone should the car run fine, except for knocking?

if my mains are gone should the car run fine, except for knocking?

????, it idles and runs fine, with no loss of power , all thats different is the *** awful knock

It could run good while still knocking. Eventually it will crap out thou.

When I took apart the original engine for my T/A, all the bearings were scratched, & the front & rear mains had 2" slivers coming off them. Don't let this happen to your engine. The crank journals could get fudged/out of round due to uneven wear.

Yeah, sure, it might run fine for a little while.. but keep in mind you no longer have oil control. ALL of your bearings are at risk. If you do still have oil pressure, all it'll take is one more bearing getting spun and it's over. Driving a motor with a spun bearing only increases the cost to rebuild it.. drastically.

its not being driven, it's sitting for winter, and a v8 is going in as soon as i find one, the engine is coming out cause the tranny is gone too
