Car: a car being parted out
Engine: blown up
Transmission: in peices
well, you shuld have just got the springs for the V6, they do make them. 200 and change.

as far as how much spring to cut off... I think the consenus was 1-1.5 coils. REMEMBER NO TOURCHES! ONLY CUT OFF WHEELS!

contact lt1guy, or redrarif, they installed v8 springs in a v6, then can let you know how much to cut off.

i have dropzone springs on mine, they only make them for v6 cars, none for the v8's. you wont have to cut them at all.

Redraif's are Eibach Pro Kit springs, which they only make for a V8. We cut them 1/2 coil (never cut more than 1/2 coil at a time; its easy to remove and cut more, impossible to put it back!). Uncut, the V8 springs raised the front end HIGHER than it was with no engine or transmission!

I just wonder.

Don't some springs have a tighter wind and the top then bottom? Which end would you cut from?

Just for reference.

If I remember correctly, we cut from the bottom.

I would love to know where you got this information, as 1, making only springs for the much-ignored V6 seems silly, and two, I can find absolutely no reference to whether they were designed with the V6 or V8 in mind. Please, enlighten us.

the info came straight from the sales rep who sold them to me over the phone. i was wondering the same thing as joe. he told me they dont make them for the v8's yet, only the v6 so i wouldnt have to cut or do any type of modification. theyve been in since july and my car looks and rides quite nicely.

dave, do you have a side view?

Also, do the springs feel stiffer, how much of a drop, even bounce around the car, etc. Can you hook us up with more info. Your the only one I know with dropzones.

i can get a sideview of it soon, up at school right now. it does have a bit stiffer ride w/ KYB shocks and struts. the bounce is even all the way around, just make sure you have the rest of the suspension fixed it seemed a bit harder at first in the back, but once everything settled, it evened out. the only problem i have now is whenever i raise the back end of it on a hoist or whatever, i have to make sure the springs are positioned correctly before setting it down.

the drop was about 1.5 inches total. the front end actually came up a half an inch b/c the old suspension was so wasted, lol.

I got suspension techniques v-6 lowering springs they did help in handling but if i ever have to replace springs again i will go back to stock hight because all i do is scrape the bottom of my car. and i cant go over speed bumps.

It will shrink the files size, not the pic size. so you can go ahead and take a 1meg pic and shrink it to half it files size [ not the image size] file size.

I repeat that as people get confused and think I mean image size.

ie: 800k file into 400k file and it will look just as good.

I'm surprised a 1" drop made you drag that much. My car currently sags about 5/8" an inch. I was wanting to do another .5-.625 more along with stiffer.

I just put in drop springs and struts today. Before and after measurements, it dropped 1.25 inches. The springs are ST's $145 delivered. They have more metal then the stock ones did, yet shorter...Denny

PS - Anyone want a set of stock springs? Only 23,000 miles and 20 years old!

Hum, that says 1.75", and you said it only dropped 1.25? I guess your car was sagging .50 already, or it needs to settle in some.

Have you drove it yet? Stiffer?

We need pictures!!!

Yeah, same here (same springs, too). I thought "oh, an inch won't be that far" - bs, because I hit everything. The ride is great and the handling's great, but I didn't know I'd turn into one of those guys that swerves around raised manhole covers! Man am I glad that I didn't go for an even lower drop!

Dale, they advertised 1.25-.75 and from reading lots of forums the best you can expect from the ST's is 1.25 drop. I do not swirve from anything and I do not bottom out, BUT remember the 84 Berlinetta was made higher for the ladies skirts! So my lowering is just getting it down to where you already are.

I have 26.25" front and 26.50" rear from the ground through the center of the tire to the top underside of the wheel well. Pretty even with a .25 drop rear to front.

I have wondered about that through this whole thread. Stock ride hight is almost to low for me once you hit the inner city streets. I could even go for a lift in some places. I would say most of the blame is the hi semi volume that either crowns the middle of the lane 3 feet high or you get that wavy bumpy pot hole mix. most roads are a wild Dukes of Hazzard ride. You either do 20 mph and rock n roll over them or nail it do 50 and skip over most of them.

Them raised pothole covers suck.

84, thanks for the dimensions, I will measure mine to try and get a good guess.

Can you tell me what size tires them dimensions are on? Or do from center of tire to fenderwell.
