There is a tech article for this swap on this very site. When I did mine it cost me roughly $600 but expect to pay more. I spent almost a year collecting parts either new or from the junkyard. It was very tedious and is something I would never do again. The actual swap took me roughly 7 hours, but that was with a lift and air tools, and I had already installed the clutch pedal and cut holes for the master cylinder.

Yes.. yes there is. Mine too was about $600, only $150 of which was invested into the trans/bellhousing. New clutch, flywheel, hydraulics, and a few bolts took their toll on the price tag rather quickly. Very tedious, but something I would do again if I had a good reason (T56).

*jumps up and down and curses profusely* .... you're lucky.. I did mine with a pair of ramps, a pair of jackstands, two hydraulic floor jacks, two scissor jacks, one lever jack, hand tools, a mechanically inclined potential girlfriend (hot chick crawling out from under car covered in grease *drool*), and a midget (for those hard to reach tranny bolts)

LOL, I never would have done it if I didn't have a lift to use. I sure could have used a hot chick to help me out though....

Wow, i didnt know it usually took $600 to do that swap. I did mine for aroudn $300 with a new generic clutch(its a v6 afterall), new hydraulics and a tranny at $85.

I did mine on a pit, yes, a pit, and i spread it out over a few days. Not extremely complicated but make sure you have the correct flywheel for your engine or you'll be ripping it back apart like I am.

$300??

Here's what I bought:

PROM $44
Transmission $55
Clutch $120
Shift **** $22
Shifter $10
Pedals $15
Flywheel $30
Flywheel Resurface $32
Speedometer gears $18
Clutch fork, stud, and boot $41
Rear main seal $18
Clutch master/slave cylinder $97

Pilot bearing $0
Flywheel bolts $15

$566 plus anything I forgot.

All my stuff was either junkyard or new GM parts except for the clutch kit and shift ****. That GM clutch master cylinder actually costs about $170.

Doh, posted my own topic before i saw this one, del please? hehe.

Approx how long of a job is it? If it could get done in like 3 hours, at a shop of course, i may be willing to pay an extra $200 to get it installed right the first time, ya know?

No shop is gonna do this for you, let alone in 3 hours.

CaliCamaroRS, why did you buy a prom? Do I need one? My car seems to be idling high. The RPM stay at like 1500 rpm when I let off the gas to shift. Would a PROM fix this?
