3.8 swap
Well my buddy changed his mind about the 3.4 and decide he should just go for a 3.8. Now the question is are the Mount s the same? The fuel deliver will this need to be changed ?

Mounts are not the same, trans is not the same. Fuel system may be.

I am sure I ll have plenty once we get the engine and stuff. That when the fun will begin (the hunt is on for the engine let me know if anyones got one forsale). I think our hardest thing is gonna be monting brackets

I did up some mock mounts out of wood & had a welding shop do the rest. unforntunately, he made them look just like the wooden ones. Fortunately, they work.
I swapped in some 2000+ tubular manifolds andhad a slight clearance prob (they stick out wider than the 95~99 manifolds) but nothing that a dremel tool & quite a few cutting discs couldn't take care of. You probably will also need to extend the throttle cable a few inches. I got a cruise control assy and modified that, as there is plenty of length to work with.
If you use an auto tranny, you cain use either your origonal shifter linkage, or what comes w/the newer tranny. I asserted my dremel over the new linkage to fit the 85 shifter. About 2 mins worth of cutting & I get to use newer parts.
E-bay has pretty good deals for these, but get all accessories/harness/pcm w/it. It makes it sooo much easire. ALso, get teh haynes/chilton manual to match the yr of engien for harness tracing. You get to make your own under hood circuit board, which I goit the 6 spade fuse from nappy for about $5. Batt got moved to pass side ( same as 4th gen) and I'm seeing about locating a 4th gen evap cannister ( may jsut cap line, or vent w/filter).
As you've seen from some of my pics on the cardomain thing, I actually seem to have more room under the hood due to less vacuum lines needed. Yeah, it's screwy but it is cleaner.
More to follow, i guess.

fuel lines work fine. I just changed out my rusted ones because: the tranny wasn't working right. Will it run lean???? tranny SNAFU'ing and no exhaust on base, + no tags prevents me from answering that......for now.

what yr 3.8? other than wiring, which all vss cars shouldn't have too much to woory aboutdash wise, there is the bcm sendor (allready have bypass from e-bay), the affor mentioned under hood fuse panel (maybe mentioned in engine swap forum???) . I had a 95 4L60E tranny. that hooked up to my tranny support no prob. I now have a 98 4L60E, and have to modify the support slightly.
http://www.dxsoftware.com/magnus/wiring.htm this helped out alot w/pcm pin outs
http://forums.daytonfbody.org/viewtopic.php?t=563 another thread I have on the freakin tranny

ok, now that Abbot & Costello are done
, Make sure the 3.8 is from a 96+ yr, as the earlier Series I motors weren't all that powerful. May as well go w/a 3.4. Preferably get an engine/tranny from an f-body, along w/teh harness & pcm (bcm too if available. if not then get the e-bay adaptor thing...gotta get those injectors to fire) it makes things just sooooooo much easier.
fwiw, the Series II blocks are the same, so fwd rwd blocks, heads, cranks,
are the same. The accessories should be in the same location, I haven't stared at my GP & the Bird in a while.

i found one out of a 98 camaro($?mileage?waiting for the guy to email me more about it) and one out of a 97 firebird($575, with 100,000 miles on it) both run. but is that a fair price you think?

If teh engine was even minamally maintained, it's a good price, w/accessories, harness, & pcm. Now would also be a good time to swap in a manual tranny & really have some fun.

zzperformance.com

there is also intense-racing.com, but I'd do some reading up on them first over @ clubgp.com first and then make an informed opinion.

go to www.firebridv6.com , and do a search on the gtp supercharger in the advanced tech forum. You'll find your answers there.
Also, duh
, do a search in engine swap here and find just about the same answers.

it might be easier to just fab up new ones, and better looking ones than mine.
Look at THESE
brackets that were made.

welding shop. I brought them my wooden mock ups & they made metal ones just like them. If you cain, do the same, but also include some drawing plans w/dimensions so you cain say " they should look like this, with these dimensions"
I had to dremel mine a little bit, but they fit.

lemme know if there any parts you're not gonna use, electricalwise, jsut incase. I gotta do some wire tracing again........injectors not injecting, but priming them w/the sunpro testor will let the car run when cranking. an acm BCM could help w/this, but using a "little black box" right now.

bcm is kinda like the vats thing, only it sends a signal to the pcm that it's "OK" to let the injectors work.
theft detterant by not delivering any fuel through the injectors.

BAD NEWS
The project is cancelled because my buddies dad went nuts, it was all good when dad 1st saw the car and then we ask my friends uncle if we could use the trail, and all the old school hot rods that were there told him it was stupid and that it couldnt be done basically, when we got the trail to get the car and he started to rant and rave that the project could never be done and that a 3.8 isnt worth it....total b.s...........basically if we got we wouldnt be able to keep the car around to take time... because his dad didnt like the idea anymore!! it sucks!! He was convinced we would not be able to get any hp of the motor. DAMN!

Now, 1yr after I had everything good to go, it doesn't want to start. I gonna get an aldl connector hooked up & see if I cain pullany codes.
Hey Coult_91, if your dad's buddies were real hot rodders, theyd be all for making the car go faster , but that's just
I also know of a few 3.8 4th gens running low 12's, not to mentiopn Zoomers doing 10's.

we all know that the 3.8 could have made the power we were after, unfortunatly my dad likes to waffle on things quite a bit. he claims one of his buddys will give me a 350, so if he wants even more problems swaping the motor i am willing to try. that 3.8 would have been so much easier.......
