dumb blonde needs help

dumb blonde needs help

got an 85 firebird 2.8, car startes fine sometimes than after running it and than turning it off car won't start ,it normally will start though after about 20 min of letting it sit, it turns over and i can smell gas but don't seem to be getting any spark, it's been like this for a few weeks now

It sounds like the first two places to start would be with your coil, and ignition module, they are cheap to replace, probably havent been replaced in a long time if at all and it wouldnt be a waste to replace them anyway.

Pull the ignition module - Autozone can test it.

Check that first - then try the coil.

ICM (inside the distrib, takes a 5.5mm or 7/32 socket)

I had the same problem when I had the 2.8, turned out to be that the choke pull-off was bad.
