im trying to figure out my leak. on the left of the waterpump and a little higher there is a circular shape in the block. and there is a tiny hole in this that leaks. i was wondering if that is a plug. but it is on the front of the motor so it must not be... also i think i have an exhaust leak the combination of the two could be causing me to overheat correct?

IMO, thats a freeze plug, yes.
They are very thin, and more then likely will do worse then good attempting to weld it.
About 1 buck, few hours of cussing and you can fix it.

could it cause over heating, yea. Its getting air pockets which cause over heating.
To get it out, you take a flat blade screw driver, or punch, and tap the outter ring (the part that actually grabs/locks) just in one spot so you basically spin it on its side. Then use pliers, grab, and yank like a SOB.
scuff the surface down, clean it. Apply a tad of silicone on the outter ring, tap it in place.
Easier said then done. Have your 2006 cussword book handy.

I'd give the quicksteel putty roll a try. It held up well enough to seal an oil leak on the pan. Oil poured out in a steady stream (weak **** stream) after I ran over a speedbump too fast once. That putty not only stopped it, but held for 3 months!

time to do it over. I'm going to guess you might have tapped in in at an angle, and one side is not sealing.
I wouldnt trust any goop on stuff.
I used silicone on mine to help slide it in more then for sealing.
