Start by checking the vacuum hoses, both the rubbur and the hard plastic ones. Then check to see if the intake manifold is leaking.

i had an 81 firebird that was a carbed 305 that would do the same thing, when i'd try to floor it, it would act like it completely died for a split second, and then GONE!! it would haul ***** after that weird little cutout. i always wondered if a previous owner had maybe put a cam in it that wasn't made for low rpms...

Re: punch the gas and stalls momentarily

does the SES light come on because the revs are too low?? or is it seeing a problem ? can you check the codes ?
id personally say its fuel related from previous experiences with other cars doing the same thing.

Had the same problem...turned out to be that he MAP sensor was hooked up incorrectly. So, definitely check your vacuum lines!

To check the reg..you can pull the line off and see if any fuel comes out(ruptured diaphram) or you have starting issues when warm(like its flooding)its a good sign, aside from those you can put a gauge on the pressure port.Turn the key on and then off to pressurize the system and see if it drops.I had the same issue on my ride ..I would come to almost a stop and then hit the gas and it would be like turbo lag and then take off?.Injectors were the problem..if they are originals then I suggest replacing them.
