anyone interested in a block, crank, and ported heads?

Hope its ok to post this here...figured it'd get better attention here than in the classified section. I pulled my highly modded 3.1 out of my car due to a piston problem. I installed a 3.4 in it. I have the motor that came out if anyone wants parts. The block is embossed 2.8 on the side but, same thing. It does have the 3.1L stroke crank! The block is bored .75mm (or +.0295") oversize. All of the cylinders measure good! These are some of the parts that finally got me into the 14s in the quarter mile, n/a. The block is 100% bare right now with the exception of the oil filter adapter (and main caps). The main bearings and cam bearings should be replaced. I can probably put some new cam bearings in it if someone is interested. The heads have the 1.72"/1.42" valves, 3 angle valve job, and "z28" springs. They were heavily ported and polished (ex. side polished) a few years ago. The vane is still in the intake port but it is modified. I have not touched the heads since they came off of the car. I can clean them and do a valve job and check the springs if anyone is interested. If I go through all of that, I'd like to get a little more for them. So, throw me some offers if you want some good parts! Camshaft is no good so its not for sale. One piston is bad so I'm not selling them. The rods can be made available, though. Also, the flexplate is still bolted to the crank, currently.
I have stock valve covers and lots of bolts and stuff off of the 3.4/3.1. If you need anything, let me know...its cheap. If anyone wants to timing cover off of the 3.4 with the crank trigger, let me know! I don't know the condition of the sensor other than, its there.
Post here or PM me if you want anything!!

Re: anyone interested in a block, crank, and ported heads?

wow. I figured there'd be more interest in this stuff. Here's kind of what I had in mind...
block $50
block and crank (and flexplate ($100)
heads $125 as the came off the car.
$225 and I'll clean them, grind the valves, fresh 3 angle on seat, and check all of the springs and re-assemble.
(I have one person potentially interested in the heads, already)

I might be interested in some parts trades (aftermarket stuff - steering, suspension, tires, brakes,...)

Re: anyone interested in a block, crank, and ported heads?

Crank trigger is external right?, ie. outside on the harmonic balancer or crank pulley? (forgive me I know nothing about the 3.4 RWD engines). If so, then name your price for crank trigger and timing cover....I'm one of those unlucky SOBs that wasn't blessed with DIS ignition and am building a hybrid XD, these days I actually know wtf a reluctor wheel is....I've come a long way, and I dug up an old post now that I can understand it, the timing cover and trigger you have seem to be exactly what I need...

sending a PM...

So far I still have everything! I've seen a little interest in the heads but no body has come through with money, yet. 3rd gen RS has dibs on the timing cover from the 3.4.

I know somebody has to want this stuff! I don't think I'm asking a lot for anything but, make me some offers!

I would love those heads...unfortunately I don't have the funds for it now.

Re: anyone interested in a block, crank, and ported heads?

Is the crank still in relatively good shape, and does it have the DIS notches? I've heard that some 3.1 cranks do have the notches in the RWD application... And no, I don't need the flexplate (I have a 5-speed, and my flexplate from when I did the trans swap is waiting to be recycled).

Just needed to know if it had been damaged because of rust or anything and if it had the notches. How much?

Nope, no damage of any sort. I have ground down the rough casting lines on it, too. I'd like $50 plus shipping. send me your zip and I'll try to figure up shipping.

Shipping's going to be a pain to the 14482 zip... I know those cranks aren't light by any means.

Hey, just got a chance to weigh the crank and stuff... Looks like it'd be about $50 to ship it to you via UPS. I'd build a wooden box to put it in. (and, put insurance on it! especially considering a recent problem with shipping via USPS)

OWCH! If nobody takes it in the next couple of weeks, I guess I'll have to use some of the tax return for it... Either that or get some stuff to the scrap yard (which is nearly impossible because the closest one is on a back road which is terrible in the snow).

Just let me know if you decide you want it. I'll tell you if its still here (from the looks of things, it will be).

You guys are making me think about bolting these ported heads on my 3.4!! I really don't need to do that! lol
