Gutted airbox where do i put the sensor?

Gutted airbox where do i put the sensor?

i took out my air box houseing and bolted in just the filter.. where should i put the sensor i was thinking about drilling a whole into the plastic and putting it there or can i just let it dangle?.. is there any draw backs to removing the hoseing? to the airbox?

you could drill a hole in the plastic. I;ve also been told you can let it dangle in an area where cool air is to trick the computer into adding more fuel to the mixture.

Imagine adding a little fan infont of the sensor would that be any good .. like a processor cooling fan?

im kinda confused how u guys are gutting the airboxes and bolting the filters on..? are u just buying tpi clamp on k&N's or..?

Ive done this too and Im wondering which would be better...drilling the hole in the air tube thing and the putting the sensor in the hole or just letting it dangle by the filter????????? Thanks!

When i get a chance im gonna make mine longer and put it were it will be hitting cold air so it will put more fuel in my engine.

Instead of removing the sensor to a colder place to trick the computer, just put a 4.7K resistor between the wires. By doing that the comp. will read the air temp. as 32 degrees. ( If I'm not mistaken )

As posted on your other thread to this question...


On the LS1 engines you can put a 4.7 ohm resistor between the terminals of the sensor.
This gives the ECM the info that the air charge is colder than it actually is.

This allows the ECM to give a little more fuel/timing curve.

I personally don't think this mod is worth anything noticeable as far as performance goes. Some people say it is, I did it and took it back out. To each his/her own.
