Where are all the 3.4l v6s?

I just got another camaro (89rs w/t-tops) for a great price but with not to good of an engine, so i am thinking of swapping the 2.8 with a 3.4... in what cars and years did gm put the 3.4 v6. also, was a turbocharger ever a factory option on any of them?
thanks

I just swapped a 3.4 under the hood of my 1985 Firebird.
DO IT
WORTH IT
Pulls like a.... I'm not allow to say what.
It may cost someone his computer monitor
I'd rather he spend his $$$ on buying a running 3.4 from the yard!
I paid $800 for a 40K engine from a 1995.
No factory turbos ever offered.
I discovered that 3.4 came in 1993-1995
DO IT

3.4's came in F-bodies in 93-95, but there were some other cars that had 3.4's... Sunfires I think.

3.4's come in EVERYTHING nowadays, monte's, minivans, impala's, just about any GM FWD car. However, as I have been properly schooled and handed my ows **** on the subject, the FWD 3.4 will not work, or at least needs heavy modification to fit a RWD application, so the only ones you want are from 93-95 or 96 Camaros and Firebirds. I believe I read somewhere (I'm probably wrong) that in 95-6 that had the 3.8, but the 3.4 was still available. I say order a crate RWD 3.4 from GM for like $1800 delivered. BRand spanking new that way, and ready for the bottle.

if you are going to spend the money, dont get a 3.4, go for a 3.8. i have a 3.1 in my camaro that goes pretty good, my mom has a new bonneville with a supercharged 3.8... it flys! 3.8 is a very good engine, they can get up to 200,000 on them and still run very stronge

For the trouble of a 3.8, youmight as well do a 350. The 3.8 is a totally different block then the 2.8/3.1/3.4. It's more like a 350 with the front to cylinders lopped off.

3.8 is a 305 with two cylinders choped of and the core shifted. 4.3 is a 350 with two cylinders choped and the core shiffted. Requires new everything including transmission. 3.4 are good engines, but a rebuilt 3.1 is cheap and the $ could be spent more effectivly on some other speed parts. Just my 0.02

If you want to supercharge it, go look for a Bonneville that had a 3.4 in it, rip the supercharger off, and stick it under your hood.... I don't remember which years came with the 3.4 (probably the same as Camaro's... 93-95), but I know they're out there. (That's how I plan on supercharging my car... Watch out Mudstains! )

And our little 2.8s and 3.1s are tough little engines too... there's someone here with either close to or over 400K mi. on his...

This brings up the question (again) wether the 3.8 will fit under the hood of our cars.... If yes then maybe I should visit the local gm Scrapyard.... they have a GrandNational engine complete with turbo(super?) charger & computer sitting in the shop right next to regular old 2.8's 3.1's & 305's (I could have a 3.4 w/70,000km for $1700 CDN) As for a Tranny, My uncle has the 5-speed from his 'Z' still (and I have the Rear-End in my car)

To 25th anniversarry RS, swapping to a 90 block from a 60 is not to good of an idea too much work and $.

To RenoLB8, i would buy a new 3.4 but i dont have the money.

To CanadianCamaro, yes the 3.8 will fit and so will bigger engines..just with a bunch of mods... cheaper to buy a car that already has a v8

i guess i just have to check the local junk yards ... thanks for all the advice
