i think i lost 3rd and 4th gear :(

well, i was coming home tonight and then when my car went to shift from 2nd to 3rd it just revved up, so i pushed it into 4th and the same thing happened, i soon realized that 3rd and 4th gear weren't there. I went ahead and dropped it into 2nd, and was able to baby it home, switching from 2nd to neutral (3rd) and back to second again, basically costing it. Is it possible to have the gears replaced in a tranny, instead of having to buy a new one? Also does anyone have prices.

Yup, it is... make sure it's not just your syncros though (doesn't sound like it, but just in case).

Replaced two syncros and two gears last year for $900, they did some other work to it too, though. That was on a V8 World-Class T5.

Ive had that happen to my tranny 2 frekin times guess what you get to do you get to have it rebuilt. What happend is either you scored your bel housing or scratched the clutches inside so here isnt pressure to shift it. Now is he time for ou to do your tranny and have fun with it =)

i have an auto, and how much does a rebuild cost? also, i've always wanted my car to have a manual tranny, so i was thinking of just saving up my pennies, and when the time is right drop in a 5 speed, do you guys know what's involved in a tranny swap, and how much it'd cost, per-say. thanx.

well, i dunno about you but i'm picking up a 700R4 on saturday for $20. gonna maybe rebuild it and add a shift kit. probably won't spend more than $200.

i think rebuilt 700's go for like $900...at least that's the cheapest i've seen.

I was looking into swapping a manual in once. It was pretty pricy, and that was doing the work myself. You have to cut some holes in the metal, find a clutch pedal, and nice other stuff like that. I called a local tranny shop and they ask $500-$1000 for a rebuild, depending on what you want. If I was in your position, I would probably just have your auto rebuilt with a nice Transgo kit (don't flame me you B&Mers!!!).

BTW, I have a 2.8 700R4 in my garage if anyone is interested.....
