Electric fan, kicking in, after the engne is shut off?

Does anyones fan, kick on, after the car is shut off, as the radiator sticker says it can or may?
Mine never has.

Mine does, but I have it wired that way. Check and see if the power lead to the fan is full time hot or switched. Mine is wired as follows (I have a stand alone fan circut), Power: Full time hot, sensor lead: full time hot, A/C lead: hot with ignition and toggle switch. My fan will come on anytime the sensor reaches 195*. It doesn't matter if the car is running or not. The reason I ran the A/C lead switched is so I can turn it on manually, and so I don't forget and leave my fan running all day

Thanks!
One step further.
Since my AC is not operating yet (not charged), cold this be a reason it does not kick on after, the engine is shut off?

Here's the deal on that... I always wondered, too. That sticker is worded wrong.. I guess GM was being overly cautious? Here's how the fan can come on:

1. Engine hot (230 degrees)
2. Engine not running
3. Ignition key in "on" position

#3 is the important point. If your car's shut off completely, you won't get a fan. If your key is turned to the position before "crank", that's when the fan can come on. Try it one hot day... when the temp gets near 230, turn the engine off, then put the key back to "on".. the fan takes a couple minutes to kick on. I guess the sticker's worded that way because some diagnostic tests need you to have the "ignition on, engine stopped".

Well actually some do anyway!
Back in the day my friends aunt had a 3rdgen that she never drove it, it sat in the driveway for about 10 years. Well when I would go over there I would always here the fan kick on on a hot summer day! The car never moved, the key was not in it also it was never driven! The battery held juice for about ten years?????. It could have been wired incorectly but I will never know.
But the fan can kick on!

No kidding! Thanks for that info, SSC! Maybe I'll dive into my GM book tonight to check out the wiring diagrams for the fan... or, maybe I won't because it's so nice out

I had a fan switch on my car so the fan would kick on at 180 and i had it on a constant power source so when the engne was off it would still be running and cool the engine off more. Then i decided to clean my enigne and forgot to cover the switch in my eninge oops. On my 91 the fan is only on in diagnostic mode or when the car is actualy on it self

Yea, My fan does that, too.
The diagnostic mode, engine on (Ignition on engine off) & engine running.
Cool, it works correct.
Yesterday, I had to repair my radiator, read the sticker and wondered.
Which was the cause for this post.
THANKS SO MUCH ALL!
