If transmission is automatic: Forget it. For starters, the shift points will be all wrong for an L98 (that TPI 350).. and if that's not enough convincing for you, the v6 and v8 transmissions use a different input shaft.. putting an L98 in front of that little v6 700r4 will snap the tranny like a twig.. if the rear end doesn't snap first. No portion of the drive train is made to handle serious torque. And if that's not enough logical explination, I've also been told it's flat out impossible (I personally will subscribe to this theory anyway with all of the drawbacks)

If it's a 4 speed manual: Theoretically, this will bolt up with slightly fewer issues.. however, it's still got weaknesses vs. the v8 setup. For third gens, getting a manual transmission behind an L98 was pretty damned hard to do (custom order after alot of convincing and probably waiving a few warranties). Normally you could only get a manual with a 305.

What ya really need to find is a V-8 car, to put that drive train into.
But, ya want more power?

Your drivetrain swap idea is practical, but not cost effective at all. Not like the old cars and old days.
New cars require ya to out think the box.
That's why I did the 2.8 to 3.4 swap boogie.
But, ya need a tranny.
I just got mine back with a new rebuilt tranny to compliment the new engine.
Cost was $900 engine & $700 tranny & $300 car.
Maybe extra $200-$300 for other things.

No, You'll have to swap trannys too. The V-8 and V-6 rear is the same, but the V-6 got better gears.

yeah the V6 rear is a V8 rear with better gears, the drive shaft will handle the power too. The tranny internally will handle the 350 in mild form HOWEVER the auto will not bolt up, its a different housing. I have heard the standards will with an adaptor, but i have no first hand experiance in that. The best thing you can do is get a wrecked V8 car as a donor and convert the V6 car over. Honestly tho if you want the V8, sell the V6 car and buy a factory V8 car. Thats not to say the swap can not happen, but it is a PITA, afew scraped knuckles and several beers. You will prolly learn afew new choice words in the swap too lol... I can tell ya how to swap, i got that part down, but i would say get a V8 car if you really want to do it.

Sure, so many of the Fbody parts are V-8 spec. And cross platform, too.
Why spend the money for "something else".
GM is into cost savings when ever possible.
WAS ESPECIALLY back in the 80's.
Hell, this pumpkin section was designed for the Vega. I had one (actually two, my Dad owned one, also). Those pumpkins take alot of abuse. From one, that was former 20 to a 23 year old with a new Four Speed Stick Shift 1975 Vega. I do know! Damn, that was one of my BEST cars. Really.
